Alanis Morissette dropped by the New York City set of the Today show today to perform a slew of songs from her highly anticipated upcoming album, Flavors of Entanglement.
In the four years since her last album, the Canadian rockstress has endured a painful break-up with her fiancé, actor Ryan Reynolds. She forced herself to write about it in “real time” for her new album.
Alanis tells co-host Matt Lauer: “It’s really been an unraveling in a great way. Sometimes unraveling can be scary. But [it’s] just really unraveling and hitting rock bottom in a great way. Eventually the phoenix rises. But while I’m in the thick of it, I write about it.”

I was shocked no one else had mentioned all the weight she seems to have gained! She doesn’t look bad but she used to be rail thin!

FUCK TALKING ABOUT HER WEIGHT.. get off it!!!!! She looks great and if her “love ballad” for Dave Coulier (sp?), “You outta know” is any indication of what she is capabale of when she’s a woman scorned.. this album should KICK ASS!!!

I just get upset knowing young ladies probably read these sites and comments and weight being brought up is a touchy subject with me with regards to self image problems and eating disorders.. we don’t need to teach more girls to hate their body. I think she actually looks better “bigger”.I am big on bigger is sometimes better.I am not the type who worries about my weight constantly.I mean if I want a doughnut or 4 I will have them with no guilt.

LOL… cheap trick… Me too.. but having dealt with people who have had serious problems with eating disorders… I am very defensive of the remarks made regarding weight.. but I get what you were saying.. I don’t know about “big”… just pear-shaped. Any weight she gains goes to her hips, butt, and thighs. Those pants are not very flattering.

She has definately changed in appearance. She reminds me of SJP here! She doesn’t look huge but she has gained weight, she used to be so tiny! I hope we hear You Oughta Know Part 2! That was an amazing album and it seems like heartbreak brings out the best in her music…maybe we’ll even hear a nasty song about Scarlett….
