Stepping out in the name of good style, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen attended the 2009 Council of Fashion Designers of America’s new members reception at the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York City today (October 21).

Joined by legendary fashion designer and CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg, the designing duo were among 31 new inductees which include Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Chris Benz and Maria Pinto.

Executive Director Steven Kolb says of this year’s new members, “We are proud to welcome these 31 new members into the CFDA family and we excited to add such a variety of creative talent to our ranks.”

Meanwhile, Mary-Kate is laughing off reports that she is about to wed her artist boyfriend Nate Lowman following an apparent marriage proposal in Paris earlier this month.

A source told Star mag: “Nate gave her a truffle box. But inside, she found a little jewellery box instead. When she opened it, there was a beautiful engagement ring. Mary-Kate was absolutely swept off her feet by Nate’s proposal. She’s so thrilled, she can barely keep it quiet.”

But a rep for the 23-year-old style icon says her star client has no immediate plans to marry, adding: “There’s absolutely no truth to any of this.”
