Katy Perry was among the many stars who showed up at the 2009 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London today (June 2).
The colourful singer was joined by the likes of Kylie Minogue, Estelle, Becki Newton and Rachel Stevens.
One person you won’t be seeing Katy rubbing elbows with is Bet Ditto.
Chating with Attitude mag, the Gossip frontwoman has slammed Miss Perry’s hit song, I Kissed a Girl, for being “offensive to gay culture.”
“[It's an] anthem for straight girls who like to turn guys on by making out or faking gay,” she explains. “I hate Katy Perry! I’m so offended. She’s just riding on the backs of our culture, without having to pay any of the dues and not being actually lesbian or anything at all.”
Ditto is certainly not the first celeb to diss the track. Last year, Pink suggested that the song “trivialized being gay” and admitted that her gay girlfriends had been “kinda put off by it.”

Oh please! Offended?
For once, I can say that Katy looks great!
we’re always told that being gay is no big deal…
now they say it is?
I thought this when I heard it too. Being gay shouldnt be an issue to people, but girls who just get drunk and kiss girls to make guys think they are awesome are just the lowest of low. Just like when actresses say in interviews, “I’d so go lesbian for Angelina Jolie.” That is so stupid.
and who are the gays to make moral judgments on, who is attracted to who?
The gays are never happy, they like the attention of being mistreated. Talk about drama queens, what happened to free speach, or is it only okay for minority to have free speach because they are politically correct?
Hmm, maybe being told that their marriages are a joke put people in a crabby mood. Oh, but being gay is a sin right? What happened to separation of church and state?? Look, I can spit laws and shit too.
I can’t stand Beth Ditto but I do think she’s got a point. That song is pretty disrespecful to lesbians.
It’s a stupid and annoying song that never should have had the success it has had. Katy Perry needs to disappear along with her dying moose call sound of of voice.
I agree with you Lola — Katy’s song makes it seem like being a “lesbian” is something you can turn off and on.
think4yourself, you fell for the marxist/liberal lies.
separation of church and state is not in the constitution.
Wackawacka.
that’s fricking hilarious.
offended homosexuals cry, “hey no fakin! you can only smash butts and munch rugs if you’re totally seriously gay! heteros need to stay with heteros! your mockery may normalize gay behavior but no one will get away with diminishing our status as victims!”
We all know that it’s a stupid song, and it’s obvious that Katy released it purely for male attention and teenage girls who think it’s cool and sexy to hook up with a girl. I’m not surprised lesbians are a little offended by it. I really hate it though when celebrities diss other celebrities, it’s really immature and just shows they are insecure about themselves and desperate for attention.
Pure ignorance in these comments. Despicable.
I refuse to waste my time on trash like this.
