Who needs Sex and the City when you’ve got the ladies of The View?

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and Sherri Shepherd all joined forces on Wednesday night when they attended an Evening with the Hosts of The View at The Paley Center for Media in New York City.

All the gals looked lovely in their best ladies-who-brunch attire…except for Whoopi, of course. She showed up in finest jeans and sneakers combo. Gotta love it!

It wasn’t just Brad Renfro who was left out of one of last night’s many Oscar montages.

Whoopi Goldberg was noticably absent in the Oscar host clip montage, as pointed out by her cohosts on The View this morning.

The gals, including Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd, Barbara Walters and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, all chatted about how Whoopi was not only the first black woman to host the show, but she was also the second black woman ever to win an Oscar.

Declared new mom Elisabeth: “I think it’s wrong you weren’t in there!”

Despite clearly not looking happy to be overlooked, Whoopi pointed out that they also didn’t include Steve Martin.

The Whoopster eventually got up and kissed each of the View ladies, thanking them for being supportive of her. Dignity in tact.

Parents-to-be Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony join the likes of Jessica Biel, Gisele Bundchen and Whoopi Goldberg channel their inner Disney character in a new series of photos.

Snapped by famed photog by Annie Liebovitz, the pics were commissioned by Disney Parks to celebrate the “Year of a Million Dreams.”

Do we love them?

WHOOPI SHARES HER SUICIDAL THOUGHTS

Not surprisingly, The View opened with a chat about the death of Heath Ledger this morning. The topic of discussion? Do you have to be angst-ridden to be a great artist?

For her part, show moderator Whoopi Goldberg said that she could relate to that idea: “Yes, I’m a very dark person. I have very dark moods.” Those dark places would sometimes help with acting, she said, but at one point early on in her career, “The place got so dark for me I thought maybe I should take myself.”

Said Joy Behar: “Kill yourself?”

“Yeah,” said Whoopi. But she said her daughter “kept the darkness from overwhelming” her.

The reason for it all? Fame. “It makes life hard. It’s hard to know who’s your friend, or what?”

As for being a celebrity, Whoopi says she thought it “was going to be light and fun,” but she soon “discovered there were people around me who wanted something. … Are you in my bed because you like me? Or because you want a car? A lot of people got cars.”

THE BIG DISAPPOINTMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Not all of us sit at home all day watching T.V.

Some of us actually lead productive lives and put in a grueling 8-hour work day 5 days a week.

For those suckers, here’s Whoopi Goldberg’s inaugural appearance on ‘The View’ today.

Enjoy! (Or not.)

THE NEW MODERATOR OF ‘THE VIEW’ ANNOUNCED!

Rosie O’Donnell’s ‘View’ replacement was just announced and, to no surprise, veteran comedian Whoopi Goldberg claimed the prize.

This decision was as timely and relevant as ‘The Simpsons’ movie. I mean, seriously — what is this? 1992?

Of the slew of energetic and opiniated hopefuls dying to take Rosie’s spot (Sherri Shepherd, Kathy Griffin, etc.) it’s sad to see that producer opted for another post-menopausal hag with old jokes and dated points-of-view.

I blame Hasselbeck!

Thoughts? Opinions?

‘The View’ is expected to announce its new cohost by August 2, a timetable confirmed by both NYC tabs this morning.

While the New York Daily News calls Whoopi Goldberg a shoo-in to join the talker, Page Six posits that a triad of Whoopi, Kathy Griffin and Sherri Shepherd might rotate in and out of the pair of chairs vacated by Star Jones and Rosie O’Donnell.

Team Sherri! Let’s face it — Whoopi is irrelevant and only gay men like Kathy.

Our thoughts?
