Tyra Banks was spotted making her way through LAX airport in Los Angeles today after spending her Memorial Day long weekend in the Big Apple.
The uber fashionable star looked characteristically trendy a retro-inspired mini-dress, strappy peep-toe sandals, oversized sunnies and a I’m-having-a-bad-hair-day head wrap.
Meanwhile, with two hit shows under her sequined Gucci belt - America’s Next Top Model and her daytime talk show The Tyra Banks Show - the supermodel-turned-media mogul is offiicially well on her way to becoming the next Oprah Winfrey.
Even now that she is now 34-year-old and officially retired from modelling (she hung up her stilettos in 2005), Tyra is reportedly as highly paid as she was at her peak, earning $50 000 a day. Add to that the dough she rakes in from her hit shows (at least $18 million according to the 2007 Forbes Celebrity 100 money list) and Miss Banks is well on her way to sashaying all the way to the, well, bank.

Talk show diva Tyra Banks chatted with Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee about homosexuality and gay marriage in an interview scheduled to air on The Tyra Banks Show on Friday.
Here’s a highlight:
TYRA BANKS: “I know that you are a preacher; do you believe that homosexuality is immoral?”
GOVERNOR HUCKABEE: “Well, I think a lot of things in our lives are missing the mark. The word sin means missing the mark. It doesn’t mean that a person has committed murder. I miss the mark if I don’t tell the whole truth. I miss the mark in a lot of ways. I think that we were created to have relationships with someone of the opposite gender, that how’s we reproduce, that’s how we live our lives. So I think sometimes if you say is it a sin or immoral and people think you’re making these terrible statements about somebody. I’ve had people who are gay that worked on my staff. It’s not like I’m some homophobe. If you ask me, Is it the normal pathway? I don’t think so. But, you know, I respect that people have different views about that.”
TYRA BANKS: “Do you want the gay vote?”
GOVERNOR HUCKABEE: “Sure, I want every vote. Seriously, I want to be president of everybody. And I can disagree with people over a choice they make in their life or a over a lifestyle and still be their president and still say I want to keep you free, I want to keep your country safe, I want to make your taxes lower not higher. I want to solve some issues like the problems we have in education and rebuild our health care system, and I think whether a person is straight or gay, they want a president who is solving issues, not just pointing out differences among people.”
TYRA BANKS: “What if they say, “I want to vote for you, Governor Huckabee, but I’m a gay man and I want to marry my man”? What do you say to that?”
GOVERNOR HUCKABEE: “To change the definitions of institutions like marriage is beyond saying if people want to live a life that’s different than others, that’s fine, but when you redefine basic institutions of marriage, government, whatever they may be, that’s when we really should have a pretty thorough public discussion about it.”
TYRA BANKS: “You’re open to a public discussion, at least?”
GOVERNOR HUCKABEE: “I think we’re having that. Whether or not we should change the rules and marriage and redefine it someway, I’m not comfortable with that.”
TYRA BANKS: “Comfortable or opposed?”
GOVERNOR HUCKABEE: “Opposed. I think it’s something that is not a good thing. I go back to the point the a marriage ought to be, the context in which two people not only have, they may not have children but have the capacity and ultimately to train replacements and create the kind of environment in which people are able to thrive.”
TYRA BANKS: “I’m asking you so many questions about this because I love the gays and the gays love me. And I know I cannot walk down the street here in New York City if I didn’t press that issue and truly ask you that.”
GOVERNOR HUCKABEE: “I think you should. I think people will respect my views on that; I respect theirs. The great thing about America is, we can have totally different viewpoints and we can do it without having animosity and hatred. This is one of the great countries where you can have sharp disagreements without killing each other over it. That’s where I think we need to celebrate what is great about America, and that is, we all don’t have to agree.”
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why a Republican should never ever be voted into office ever again!

On The Tyra Banks Show yesterday, the supermodel-cum-talk show princess decided clear the air of any rumours by strapping herself up to a lie detector machine from FOX’s new hit show, Moment of Truth.
Tyra managed to get by pretty squeaky clean, but drama ensued when she was asked whether she believed that every winner from all nine cycles of America’s Next Top Model was deserving of the title.
After a few minutes of talking in cricles, the truth was revealed. You gotta check this one out.
She’s sooooooo talking about Cycle 7’s CariDee English!

Braving the frigid temps in New York City on Thursday, supermodel-turned-talk show diva Tyra Banks joins friends and audience members in ritualistic bra burning ceremony while taping a segment for The Tyra Banks Show on West 26th Street.
While most gals on hand bid farewell to their boulder holders, Tyra managed to keep her moneymakers tucked. Not enough room on the set, we imagine.
Meanwhile, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the CW network has greenlighted a new reality series to serve as a companion show to America’s Next Top Model.
“It is a competition show about aspiring assistants looking to become assistant editors at a fashion magazine,” says Mok. “At the same time they’re trying to prove themselves as aspiring fashionistas, that they have a sense of style and savvyness, all the things to make it in the fashion world.”
The show is described as America’s Next Top Model meets The Apprentice meets The Devil Wears Prada.

Expectant starlet Jessica Alba dropped by the New York City set of The Tyra Show today to cash in on some free celebrity baby shower gifts.
Tyra presented Jessica with a stage full of presents worth over $6000!
As for any changes the mum-to-be is experiencing, Alba tells the always hard-hitting Tyra: “I’ve never dealt with cleavage before… it’s a whole new thing. I’ve increased from a 32B to a 34D.”

Tyra Banks says she is insulted by internet rumours saying she moved to New York to be with a new boyfriend. According to internet gossipers, the former model moved her talk show from Los Angeles to the New York City because she is allegedly dating 50-year-old investment banker John Utendahl. But Tyra, 34, pours cold water on that theory in the upcoming issue of Essence magazine, saying: “I’m very insulted by that rumour. I employ a lot of people; their livelihoods rest on my shows. The move to New York was a decision I made with my manager. It was not about a man.”
Meanwhile, despite fame and fortune, Tyra says she’s a bird in a gilded cage. “I’d go to work [on 'The Tyra Banks Show'], and women would be crying in my arms,” dishes the talk show princess. “But then I’d go home and put my key in my door and … nothing. No friends, no husband, no children. I feel so full when I’m at work but so empty when I come home.”
Aww…poor little rich girl!

Looks like Tyra Banks has stuck her size 9 foot in her mouth again.
During a recent private party, a typically loud Tyra was overheard proclaiming the following: “[Britney] should just go ahead and kill herself after the album and go out like Marilyn, very grand. She should have done it after the last album.”
Ouch!! Is Tyra really that desperate to become the new Jerry Springer?
Surely, she didn’t actually say this….right?
A rep for T-Dawg’s syndicated talk show says: “This is absolutely not true,” offering no further elaboration, quite unlike the original sources, who claim Tyra was most animated in her unsettling opinion, and that Banks was hardly trying to be quiet about the scandalous words.
Gee, who do we believe? We’re leaving this one up to you to decide.
