Beloved evangelist-turned-reality star Tammy Faye Messner has died of lung cancer.
She was 65 years old.
Just earlier this week, despite her worsening condition, Tammy appeared on ‘Larry King Live.’ When asked what she would like to tell the many fans who were watching and listening, she said: “I’d like to say that I genuinely love you and I genuinely care and I genuinely want to see you in heaven one day. I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy.”
Rest in peace, Tammy.

Tammy Faye is scheduled to appear on ‘Larry King Live’ tonight, but, as a surprise to everyone, a portion of her interview was aired last night.
Though she’s stopped treatment for the cancer, Tammy still has a positive outlook, insisting that her physicians not tell her how limited her time is. “I asked them not to tell me,” she says. “I don’t want my faith level to go down. That’s in God’s hands.”
It’s clear the consummate survivor has turned these moments of weakness and pain into her finest and strongest times.
Tammy’s full interview airs tonight on CNN at 9 pm.

Tammy Faye, weak and ravaged by cancer, is currently 62 pounds and “in pain 100 percent of the time,” she tells Entertainment Tonight in an interview airing tonight and tomorrow. “At this point, (I’m) not afraid of dying, it’s how will I die.”

Bible queen and pop culture icon Tammy Faye was a picture of courage as she bravely stepped out on what could be her final public outings.
The 66-pound former televangelist - who has stopped treatment for the colon and lung cancer she’s battled for 11 years - looked shockingly frail and gaunt as she attended a family celebration and went on a last shopping trip.

A Christian. An evangelist. An entrepreneur. An author. A talk show host. An icon.Tammy Faye has been many things in her life. From the PTL Club scandal to ‘The Surreal Life’ to her battle with cancer, the 65-year-old preacher’s daughter has always had a resilience and perseverance that’s kept her in the hearts and minds of America.
As Tammy makes her final passage in life, she’s dedicated a note on her website to her many fans across the world. It’s truly lump-in-the-throat inducing.
My Dear Faithful Friends,
Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, 4th of July and several birthdays of family and friends. Envelopes have become separated, or they are still in piles all over the place to send as yet. I have been on so much medication, so many have been trying to help with thank-you notes……I don’t know. Thank you for the rooms full of flowers, the tables full of cards, and beautiful little gifts laying everywhere. Thank you so much! I know I have missed so many gifts I should have sent for these special occasions. And then, trusting God to heal my sick stomach. Please try to understand.
The doctors have stopped trying to treat the cancer and so now it’s up to God and my faith. And that’s enough! But please continue to pray for the pain and sick stomach.
My precious daughter, Tammy Sue, and her wonderful friends are staying with me while Roe builds churches. They don’t want me falling down the stairs. I am down weight wise to 65 pounds, and look like a scarecrow. I need God’s miracle to swallow.
To those of you who are suffering as I…..”don’t give up”!! Make up your mind you’re going to LIVE !! That is NOT EASY! The path gets so long. I look at young people and wish with all my heart for just one day of “feeling great”. You see, God gives out his promises, they do not lie, they do not fail. We do not have to BEG him for them, they are FREE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You CAN make it!
Love Tammy Faye
