Forget Katie Couric – Ryan Seacrest is reportedly the heir to the Larry King throne.
“He’s the classic generalist,” King told the Times. “The only thing I don’t know, and I’ve gotten to know him pretty well, is how versed he is in politics, world affairs. Does he read the paper? Is he interested in Iraq? Because if he is, he’s going to be very good.”
Another source familiar with Seacrest and his involvement on “American Idol” said that a drastic course change might be just what Seacrest needs. “He’s so serious about his career, but like anyone, he wants it to evolve. Hosting ‘Larry King’ would be perfect for him.”
Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse than an aging old man with mild dementia, it just did!

As we first reported, Jennifer Garner was left nervous and lost for words after Gary Busey surprised her on the red carpet at the 80th Annual Academy Awards with a big hug and a kiss.
The Juno star and award presenter was in the middle of a live interview with Ryan Seacrest when the Celebrity Fit Club D-lister pounced, leaving Jennifer more than a little shocked.
Luckily for J.Garn, she was saved by pal Laura Linney, who quickly dragged her away.
That’s what friends are for!!

This just in: Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest will be back this year to ring in 2008 on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, starting at 10 PM (ET & PT) on December 31 on ABC.
Wonderful — what better way to ring in the new year than partying with a dude who suffered a stroke and another dude whose hosting skills can cause stroke.
What’s next? A cameo by Larry King?

Britney Spears called in to KIIS-FM’s ‘On Air with Ryan Seacrest’ this morning and things went just as planned — as in, it went completely wrong!
Half way through the interview, the scatter-brained songstress handed the phone off to her faux cousin Alli Sims before abruptly jumping into the shower.

• On people calling her a bad mother: “Like I said, people say what they want and do what they do. It’s sad how cruel our world can be. At the end of the day, you just have to know in your heart that you’re doing the best you can.”
• On how much the overwhelming coverage takes a toll: “I try not to let it get to me. People talk and they say what they want. At the end of the day and the tabloids and the magazines, you just try to do what you do and as long as you know what’s up and you know what’s true that all that really matters.”
• On celebrating Blackout’s release last night: “It was kinda laid back, really. We watched movies, that’s about it,” Spears said. They also “munched on Famous Amos cookies and fried chicken,” added Lufti.
• Her favorite song on the album: “I really like Heaven on Earth. I really like the producer. It’s different than all the other songs.”

Over the weekend, Britney Spears and pal Alli Sims partied with Dallas Cowboys quarterback/celebustalker Tony Romo at Hollywood club Les Deux. But according to the latest reports, they did a lot more than just party.
Hollywood no-talent Ryan Seacrest – who was also at the celeb hotspot — says he saw the singer give him a lap dance.
“I spoke to her for a minute. She seemed to be in a very, very good nnmood,” he said on his KIIS-FM radio show this morning. “She had her sunglasses on. I said, ‘Busy day, huh?’ She kind of smiled and laughed and said, ‘Yeah.’ And then I believe I saw her and Tony Romo frolicking.”
“Lap dancing?” a co-host asked.
“I mean some would say,” Seacrest said.
“She’s on his lap,” the co-host continued.
“Yeah,” Seacrest replied.
Strangely, an inside source tells X17 that she never even saw Tony that night at Les Deux.
Whatever the case may be, let’s hope he gets himself checked for STDs. Better safe than sorry!

Joined by Hollywood gays Ryan Seacrest and Michael Feinstein, ‘American Idol’ reject Katharine McPhee poses on the red carpet at the Young Musicians Foundation 53rd annual gala in Beverly Hills on Friday.
For some inexplicable reason, the event was hosted by Seacrest — despite the fact that he single-handedly ruined the recent Primetime Emmy Awards when he emceed the event.
Special guests McPhee, Feinstein and Clint Eastwood were all on hand at the black tie affair to pay tribute to the chairman of YMF’s Board, the late Merv Griffin.
A gay ole time was had by all.

Vapid douchebag Ryan Seacrest is among the first to arrive at the 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Not only is the tweezed, plucked and bleached talentless schmuck hosting E! Network’s pre-show, but he will also play as MC of the big star-studded show.
Clad in a taloired Dior suit, Ryan told TV’s Extra: “There’s a very interesting costume change, which could be the biggest mistake of my career…it’s that embarrassing.”
Twenty bucks says he will don Britney Spears’ sequined bikini from last week MTV VMAs.

Fox has just announced Ryan will host the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, live, from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles Sunday, September 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
As for how a vapid doucebag like Ryan scored such a high profile gig? ‘American Idol’ producers are running the big show this year.
