A low-key Ryan Phillippe was spotted offering his son Deacon a helping hand as he picked him up from karate on Thursday in Los Angeles.
And while Ryan and ex-wife Reese Witherspoon are hardly BFFs, it appears they’ve come to a civilized understanding when it comes to sharing custody of their young children during the upcoming holidays.
Reese tells People mag: “I think the most important thing is to be a grownup and not let any kind of feelings affect how you deal with your children.”
She adds: “I’m very lucky in that we raise our kids to just be happy. I think the most important thing is the children. What do they want, what makes them feel comfortable?”
Their plan seems to be working. Deacon and 8-year-old big sis Ava are two of Hollywood’s happiest kids!

A heavily tattooed Ryan Phillippe was looking all sorts of bad ass as he dropped his son off at karate class in Brentwood, CA yesterday.
Not only is Ryan an amazing father but it appears that he’s not so bad of a boyfriend either. He and gal pal Abbie Cornish are reportedly taking their relationship to the next level as the Aussie actress is set to spend Thanksgiving with Ryan and his kids, Ava and Deacon.
“Ryan is a really great cook,” Abbie told OK! at the Oct. 15 Jay-Z concert at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. “He’s very clever.”
Spending the holidays with each other is another indication that this low-key couple, who’ve been dating on and off since October 2006, are very much together. “He’s a gorgeous guy, and I love him very much,” Abbie told OK!.
The praise doesn’t end there. Says Ryan’s Flags of Our Fathers co-star Jesse Bradford of his parenting skills: “He’s a fantastic dad. I never see him get frustrated with his kids. He treats them like they’re equal people with a real footing in life. I only hope to be as good a dad one day.”

While the camera may love him, Deacon Phillippe was not loving the camera as pop Ryan Phillippe treated him and older sis Ava to a daddy-and-me lunch date in Beverly Hills yesterday.
And while Ryan’s lady love Abbie Cornish was nowhere to be seen on this outing, his Stop-Loss co-star Rob Brown says things are going swell.
He recently told People mag: “They’re great…They’re good people.”
As for how Ryan is doing following his headline-making divorce to Reese Witherspoon last year? He added, “He’s all right. He’s in good spirits and he seems happy. And I’m happy for him.”

Ryan Phillippe and girlfriend Abbie Cornish are in Las Vegas to celebrate Cornish’s 26th birthday.
The very in love couple was spotted enjoying some celebratory drinks and chatting poolside at the exclusive TAO Beach at The Venetian hotel today.
Last night, Ryan and Abbie checked out Cirque Du Soleil’s O at Bellagio before making their way to a VIP skybox at Tao’s nightclub that overlooked the main dance floor. The picture perfect duo sipped on Grey Goose and cranberry drinks, danced and engaged in some shameless PDA before making their way back to a one-bedroom suite at The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino where the festivities surely continued.

Reese Witherspoon may be globetrotting around Europe this summer with beau Jake Gyllenhaal, but her ex-hubby Ryan Phillippe is evidently staying local.
The hunky actor and his new love Abbie Cornish stepped out together in West Hollywood today for a coffee date followed by some shopping. Following their day of R&R, they headed back to Ryan’s $7.175 million Hollywood Hills home.
The reclusive twosome valiantly did their best to evade the eye of the paparazzi by keeping a fair distance from one another as they strolled back to their car.

Ryan Phillippe was spotted dropping up his son Deacon off at football camp in Los Angeles yesterday.
But it looks like Ryan’s 4-year-old mini me wasn’t quite ready to toss the pigskin solo. After endless words of encouragement, young Deacon still didn’t want to stay at camp and his dad made him feel better with a quick hug and then promptly took him home.
Meanwhile, it appears being a single dad ain’t so bad after all. Ryan recently shelled out over $7 million for a sprawling L.A. mansion in the Hollywood Hills.
His Aussie actress girlfriend Abbie Cornish is expected to move in by the summer and with over 8300 sq ft of room, there’s more than enough space!

After a messy divorce followed by a string of box office bombs, a father/son day out in Los Angeles is just what Ryan Phillippe needed to bring a smile to his face.
Looking seasonably casual, the Stop-Loss actor and his 4-year-old son Deacon ran a few errands in Brentwood, CA yesterday afternoon.
After picking up a few home essentials (i.e. a 12-pack of Corona), the Phillippe boys headed back to Ryan’s bachelor pad where the male bonding continued through the night.

Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish were on hand last night as the Los Angeles-based Australians in Film (AiF) held its 4th Annual Breakthrough Awards. Abbie got one of the Cherished Boomerang Awards.
As part of the organization’s program to support emerging talent from Australia, the group announced it has established the Heath Ledger Scholarship Fund, to be presented annually to a young Australian-based actor trying to make it in Hollywood.
The first Scholarship recipient will be announced in 2009.
