FYB faves Robert Downey Jr. and Rachel McAdams are in London today for a press conference about Sherlock Holmes, which is about to begin filming.

Said RDJ: “In case you aren’t aware I had a hell of a summer, and it’s made me much more viable to play a lead role than I might have (been) in the past.”

When asked what he could bring to a character portrayed countless times on film and television, he joked: “Clearly I’m going to do it better than it’s ever been done.”

Meanwhile, director Guy Ritchie said the flick will be his biggest movie “by a long shot” in terms of budget. No numbers were given but producer Joel Silver did mention that the budget had not been affected by the current financial crisis.

Robert Downey Jr. was all smiles as he stopped off at Jerry’s Liquor Store on Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica, CA yesterday.

The actor hero left the store with a conspicuous-looking small brown paper bag. It is customary in American liquor stores to put alcoholic beverages into brown paper bags!

Is it possible that Mr. Downey, who has a troubled past with addictions, has fallen off the wagon?

The actor has quite a skip in his step which can only make one wonder what purchase has made Robert so happy!

So much for Robert Downey Jr.’s self-penned tell-all!

The Iron Man star has stopped plans to release an autobiography.

The book, initially scheduled for release later this year, was described as an in-depth look at “the highs and lows of [the actor's] life and career.”

For now, Downey Jr. has put it on the backburner and returned his advance to publisher HarperCollins.

No explanation on why he’s backing out, but we’re guessing the once troubled actor is having second thoughts about revisiting his dark past now that he’s riding high in the box office.

Renee Zellweger, Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert Downey Jr. and Oscar nominee Javier Bardem are among the stars recreating classic scenes from Alfred Hitchcock movies in a new Vanity Fair magazine spread.

CLICK HERE to check them all out. They’re amazing!!!

Zellweger imitates Kim Novak in Vertigo, Gwyneth plays Grace Kelly to Downey Jr.’s Cary Grant in To Catch A Thief and Bardem teams up with Scarlett Johansson to recreate a scene from Rear Window.

The inspired spread also features Jodie Foster, Charlize Theron, Marion Cotillard, Naomi Watts, Keira Knightley and Jennifer Jason Leigh recalling classic scenes from The Birds, Dial M For Murder, Psycho, Marnie and Rebecca.

But perhaps the most eye-catching snapshot is that of chubby funnyman Seth Rogen running from a plane - just like Cary Grant did in Hitchcock’s North By Northwest.

Enjoy!
