Here’s something straight out of the WTF Folder: Britney Spears and Mel Gibson are reportedly en route to Costa Rica on vacation together!
ET spotted them leaving on a private plane early this morning. Sources tell the show that Mel is taking Britney and her father Jamie for a mini vacation at his home in Costa Rica. And while the two may appear to be an unlikely duo, Britney and Mel used to live in the same Malibu community and were spotted having dinner together at Studio City’s Romanov restaurant in March.
Stay tuned for more deet!

The surprise guest at last night’s ‘American Gangster’ screening at the Arclight in Hollywood was none other than Mel Gibson .
The controversial director appeared sane, sober and happy. Shocking, I know.
Mel stopped just long enough in front of the press to hug the film’s stars, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, pose for a few photos and tell the actors how much he was looking forward to seeing their film.
Hmm….a political/publicity move, perhaps? Could Mel be staging a comeback?

Famed anti-Semite and boozer Mel Gibson hasn’t managed to kick the habit of knocking back endless cold ones, as members of Alcoholics Anonymous in Malibu recently discovered.
Staying true to the whole anonymous part of AA, one patron (for lack of a better word) obviously saw there was money in a good story, and promptly contacted the National Enquirer, happily retelling all about Mel’s calamitous booze-filled time in Malibu.
“He was falling, tripping and clearly off balance. It was an embarrassing moment,” said the Enquirer’s source. “He didn’t even apologize!” added the boozy snitch, having explained how Mel was so plastered he began falling over the other attendees at the meeting. “He looked so out of it.”
Evidently, moody Mel’s most recent temptation wasn’t his last.
Christ!

Today’s Oprah will play host to the Rutgers University women’s basketball players who landed in the headlines this past week when since-disgraced broadcaster Don Imus tossed a racial slur in their direction that hit the rim like a public-relations brick. Coach C. Vivian Stringer and the 10 team members will appear live, via satellite, says the AP.
I’m sorry, but enough already.
At first I felt bad for these girls. The comments were wrong and hurtful and took the focus off of a major accomplishment they had achieved.
But if they were really that upset by this then wouldn’t they want to put it behind them and move on? Holding press conferences and going on Oprah is only drawing more attention to the incident. T.R. Knight, Mel Gibson’s cop, and Michael Richards’ victims were, quite frankly, the subjects of much worse comments and didn’t seek out the press the same way these girl seem to be doing. And while Imus may have eclipsed their moment in the sun, they’re totally stealing the thunder from the Tennesse team. (They actually won the finals.)
