THE ELECTION IS OVER BUT ‘THE VIEW’ GOES ON

It was another sparring match over at The View today.

Today’s topic? How to recognize Veterans Day. In one corner? Joy Behar. In the other, Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Joy kicked off the Hot Topics segment by reading facts about the war, including the number of dead American soldiers (over 4000), the daily cost, etc.

The loudmouth comedian could barely get her words out before Elisabeth rebuked: “Do not complain about the war today!!”

Resident voice of reason Whoopi Goldberg attempted to interject, but was instantly overpowered by Joy and Elisabeth.

While an enraged Elisabeth insisted: “It is not our day to gripe about the cost,” Joy argued, “We are honoring them by discussing this war.”

With all her arguments down the drain, Elisabeth then threw out her trump card, saying she knew people fighting in the war and knew they would not want the ladies talking war cost.

As ridiculousness reached a climax, Whoopi cut the whole thing off for good, saying: “We’re moving on!!!”

Thankfully, the often ill-informed Sherri Shepherd kept her trap shut the entire time.

Stay tuned for video!

ELISABETH HASSELBECK: “TODAY IS A VICTORY”

So how is outspoken Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck feeling?

On The View today, she said, “We’ve had such incredible discussions here,” and then addressed Barack Obama’s acceptance speech with her daughter Grace.

When Grace asked who lost the election, Elisabeth said she told her, “No one lost today - and God knows I fought hard on the other side. Today is a victory for this country. The first black president. The first place first lady. The first black family. I haven’t felt this good…

“Are you saying I was right all along?” Joy probed.

Sherri Shepherd, on the other hand, got her tears on as she spoke of being once told that she would never make it as an actress and ought to get a job at the post office. And now? There are “no limitations!!”

That prompted Barbara Walters to ask: “So why were you undecided to the last minute?” Said Sherri: “She (Sarah Palin) spoke to me, but this spoke to me more.”

The View has received wild rating for their political battles so it’s no suprise that the ladies of the show dress up as former U.S. presidents for their Hallowe’en special.

Check out a sneak peek at Friday’s show as Whoopi Goldberg dresses as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Joy Behar as Theodore Roosevelt, Sherri Shepard dresses as Abraham Lincoln (on a penny, no less!), Elisabeth Hasselbeck as Ronald Reagan and Barbara Walters as George Washington.

What? No Dubya?

THE VIEW: A SHEEP IN DESIGNER CLOTHING?

Not surprisingly, The View kicked off its Hot Topics today with a chat about Elisabeth Hasselbeck at Sunday’s rally for Sarah Palin.

After Lizzie attempted to undercut the media’s intense coverage of Wardrobegate as merely “sexist”, the rest of the gals were quick to point out that John Edwards got lots of flack for his $400 haircuts.

Said Joy Behar: “A lot of people say, ‘Who is the real [Barack] Obama? But what I want to know is: Who is the real Sarah Palin? The Wal-Mart hockey mom or a clothes horse?”

Elisabeth, who spent much of the day on Sunday with Sarah Palin, responded with: “”We talked a lot about this. She called Jimmy Choos Johnny Choos. This is not a fashionista, by any means.”

Barbara Walters was soon to declare: “I don’t think this is Sarah Palin’s fault. I think this is the Republican party’s fault. … I traveled all over the country, took black pants, a black skirt and three jackets and did not have to spend that kind of money.”

Added Joy: “She could say, ‘I don’t want to wear those clothes because I’m presenting myself as this Wal-Mart hockey mom.”

Touché, Behar. Touché.

Who needs Sex and the City when you’ve got the ladies of The View?

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and Sherri Shepherd all joined forces on Wednesday night when they attended an Evening with the Hosts of The View at The Paley Center for Media in New York City.

All the gals looked lovely in their best ladies-who-brunch attire…except for Whoopi, of course. She showed up in finest jeans and sneakers combo. Gotta love it!

A BIASED VIEW

For the second consecutive day, Paris Hilton dominated the Hot Topics segment on ‘The View’ today.

Christian crusader Elisabeth Hasselbeck joked, “It’s funny how jailbirds and porn stars always say, ‘Oh God,’” before defending Hilton’s recent bible-reading binge. Meanwhile, funnygal Joy Behar wisecracked about Hilton’s likening prison to being in a cage: “Duh, you are in a cage.” Touchee.

And for curiosity’s sake, co-host Barbara Walters, who appears to have become the Hilton mouthpiece while Paris is in the slammer, asked the visiting wife of the United Nations secretary general if her compatriots knew of Hilton’s situation. Sadly, the answer was affirmative.

Later, the gals couldn’t resist asking guest Judge Judy for her take on Paris’ new ‘tude. “Instead of bringing this spiritual books, she would have been smart to bring in a newspaper.”

Call it a case of extreme irony that Judge Judy was there to promote a book called ‘Beauty Fades, Dumb is Forever.’
