Johnny Depp thrilled fans with his guitar work last night, when he caught up with old mates from rock band The Kid at Club Cinema in Pompano Beach.

The occasion was for the Sheila Witkin Memorial Reunion Concert in memory of Sheila Witkin, a local band manager whose son, Bruce Witkin, would go on to play in the Kids with Johnny.

Fans were kept waiting until after midnight today to find out whether Mr. Depp could keep up with the Kids’ guitar-centred power pop — and he impressed amid screams from the packed floor.

These last few months have seen a crop of photos showing Johnny Depp as proto-gangster John Dillinger in Michael Mann’s Public Enemies. Here are some more taken today showing the actor/character in more casual time-appropriate attire, complete with ruby red shades.

After filming a day’s worth of scenes, Johnny took time out of his busy schedule to not only pose for photos, but also share few wise words with his many admirers.

If you’re wondering, no bloggable photos have surfaced from the set of Christian Bale playing Melvin Purvis, the ambitious FBI head who lead the crackdown resulting in Dillinger’s 1934 death outside a Chicago theater.

The film is based on the real events as depicted in Bryan Burroughs’s eponymous non-fiction account.

Johnny Depp is truly a fan’s artist.

The infinitely talented and generous actor made good on his word recently and made one 12-year old from Oshkosh, Wisc., very, very happy.

Jack Taylor got a package in the mail last week from Johnny’s production company, Infinitum Nihil, containing a variety of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory promotional gifts along with a vintage fedora Johnny told Jack he could have when the Public Enemies star was in town in April for filming.

Jack tells The Northwester: “All I really said was ‘Can I have your hat?’ And he said ‘When I’m done with it, it’s yours.’ He was actually pretty cool.”

So, what did Johnny Depp get up to during Father’s Day?

The Oscar-worthy actor was spotted taking a break from filming Michael Mann’s Public Enemy to spend the weekend with his kids.

Shortly after touching down in Los Angeles, Johnny was swept away via chauffeured SUV en route to see his children.

The ageless actor has been real busy as of late filming his Great Depression flick alongside fellow greats Christian Bale, Giovanni Ribisi and Marion Cotillard.

The often nominated but never awarded actor is once again up for the Best Actor trophy for his role in Sweeny Todd.

Johnny Depp has donated over $2 million to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The Sweeney Todd star gave the money to staff to thank them for saving his daughters life.

As you may recall, Johnny’s daughter Lily-Rose was treated at the hospital last March when her kidneys failed.

The kindness didn’t just stop at a mere donation — the kind-hearted hunk also invited five doctors and nurses from the hospital to the premiere of his new musical.

The Daily Mail adds that Depp has also made appearances in the children’s ward dressed as his most famous character, Captain Jack Sparrow.

We knew there was a reason why we loved this man! Aside from his insurmountable talent and killer good looks, of course!

Johnny Depp finally opens up about Lily-Rose, his 8-year-old daughter who was hospitalized earlier this year for an undisclosed ailment. The tragedy struck the family nearly three weeks after Johnny started work on ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.’

The 44-year-old actor tells the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly: “To say it was the darkest moment, that’s nothing. It doesn’t come close to describing it. Words are so small. But knowing that those people, Tim and the crew, shut down and stood by and waited … I didn’t know if I was coming back. I remember talking with Tim, saying, ‘Maybe you need to recast.’”

He adds: “Now every single millisecond is a mini-celebration. Every time we get to breathe in and exhale is a huge victory. She pulled through beautifully, perfectly, with no lasting anything.”

As you may recall, it was widely reported that Johnny’s little girl stepped on a rusty nail and got blood poisoning.
