An anxious Jake Gyllenhaal lunches with a chesty brunette gal pal at Joan’s on Third cafe in West Hollywood on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old actor’s main squeeze, Walk the Line star Reese Witherspoon, was nowhere to be seen. Uh-oh!!!
“Jake waited on his friend hand and foot,” an eyewitness says. “He got up from the table to get her something the waiter had forgot. He was a real gentleman.”
After their meal, Jake’s unnamed female friend retrieved his black Mercedes sedan from the back parking lot and pulled up in front to pick him up.
Hmm…we wonder if Reese knows where Jake was!

Loved up couple Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal step out in Santa Monica, CA over the weekend for a romantic stroll.
The casually dressed twosome were snapped walking along the boardwalk where they shared a few laughs and hugs before departing for Reese’s Brentwood estate.
Meanwhile, despite their cooperate flop that is otherwise known as Rendition, the two box office stars are hoping to rebound from the poor reviews received for their latest work.
Reese is currently hard at work filming Four Christmases alongside Vince Vaughn. Jake, on the other hand, has a number of huge roles lined up, including the sure-to-be hit Brothers, which costars Natalie Portman and Tobey Maguire.

Mega hunk Jake Gyllenhaal is getting set to play Joe Namath in a movie about the quarterback’s life.
David Hollander will write the script once the writers strike is over. Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar will produce. Jimmy Walsh, who runs Namanco Prods., exec produces.
Walsh said he and Namath OK’d the movie after a long pursuit by Lazar, a strong take by Hollander and the belief that the athletic Gyllenhaal was the right actor to play him.
Gee, we can’t wait to see him put on those pantyhose….errr, tights.

Hollywood hotties Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal have signed up to make sweet love in a saucy political satire called Nailed.
Helming the picture is Three Kings director David O. Russell and Kristin Gore co-wrote the screenplay.
Jessica plays a small-town receptionist who develops an insatiable sexual appetite after she gets nailed in the head (literally). Jake plays a shady politician who happily helps Jess in her crusade.
Ugh, this one has lack of chemistry written all over it.

Ugh…this is getting pathetic.
It appears there is no end to how far Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal will go to promote their box office flop, ‘Rendition.’
After months and months of speculation with little evidence, the rumoured “couple” were reportedly spotted engaging in a steamy kiss. Talk about strategic timing!
Dressed in matching black T-shirts and jeans, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal strolled hand-in-hand and smooched at Los Angeles International Airport October 22, new photos of the on-again duo reveal.
The pair had been returning from Rome, where they were promoting their new film Rendition. On October 19, Witherspoon, 31, was spotted resting her head on Gyllenhaal’s shoulder while walking through the streets as they enjoyed some downtime.
I’ll do my best to track down these revealing photos. In the meantime, feel free to scoff at Reese and Jake’s last ditch effort to get some butts into theatre seats.

Joined by director Gavin Hood, costars Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are all smiles at the premiere of ‘Rendition’ on Sunday during day 4 of the 2nd annual Rome Film Festival in Rome, Italy.
After briefly posing together at a early morning photo-call, Reese and Jake kept miles apart as they worked the press line. Way to create buzz, you two!
