EVA IS ELECTRIFYING!

The stars stepped out in full force last night for the Los Angeles premiere of The Women starring a Who’s Who of A-Listers.

Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, Debi Mazar and Candice Bergen are just a few of the mega-watt superstars in this all-girl cast. The Women, a remake of the 1939 classic, is directed by Murphy Brown creator Diane English.

Meg plays the central character, a wealthy married woman who’s the last to find out her husband is cheating on her with a shopgirl.

And just who is this man-stealing shopgirl? None other than big screen siren Eva Mendes who stole the red carpet show right from under her fellow castmembers’ feet.

While a Bill Blass-clad Eva was very ladylike above the ankles, she kept her feet totally rock-n-roll by donning a pair of lightning bolt stilettos by Dsquared2.

Our thoughts on Miss Mendes’ dichotomic ensemble? Fashion forward or fashion faux pas?

“I don’t think I would have made it! The things I have to talk to my children about, at such a young age — it would blow your mind. I have to constantly reassure my daughter that she’s beautiful and teach my sons a different thought process when it comes to how they view women.”

Despite legal battles, a recent stint in the hospital and on-going health problems, Amy Winehouse managed to arrive in one piece for her much anticipated appearance in Hyde Park for Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday bash.

Earlier today, the British soulstress was spotted struggling through soundcheck, but later failed to turn up for a photocall with the former South African leader and the rest of the artists on the bill for his special concert.

So, where was she? Visiting husband Blake Fielder-Civil in Pentonville Prison, where he is awaiting sentence for a slew of charges.

Meanwhile, the show’s finale is expected to be feature Queen, Wino and Jerry Dammers (of British ska legends the Specials) performing Free Nelson Mandela, a Dammers-penned song from 1984 that was quickly adopted as an anti-apartheid anthem at the time.

Stay tuned for more!

NELSON’S A-LIST SOIREE

With just two days to go until Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebration concert, the stars stepped out to fete the former South African president during a fundraising dinner at London’s Hyde Park on Wednesday.

And, of course, no event having to do with Africa would be complete without its reigning queen, Oprah Winfrey.

She tells the Press Association: “What is so special is that you spend 27 years in prison, you come out and you do the thing that everyone thought was impossible to do, become president of the nation and change the way people feel about Africa, and then you get to live to celebrate 90. I just don’t know anybody who deserves this more or anybody who we should be gathered around literally at his feet to say thank you for all that he has given the world.”

Blending good will with a little shameless self-promotion, Hancock star Will Smith was in attendance with wife Jada Pinkett Smith. (Hancock opens nationwide on July 2.)

Looking pretty in pink, Leona Lewis was on hand to add a little star power….and to pick up a check! The British songstress is reportedly being paid over $2 million for personal appearances at parties.

Pussycat Doll frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger showed up looking like she was ready for a Pussycat Doll funeral. It’s a celebration, honey. Try a little colour.

The always stunning Uma Thurman was joined by a dark-haired mystery man. Yet another new romance for the often-in-love actress?

And finally, Kim Cattrall injected some much need sex into the city of London.

Washed up reality star KRISTIN CAVALLARI showed up on the red carpet (surprise, surprise) at the 19th Annual MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto in a gunmetal strapless gown by Monique Lhuillier. Meanwhile, JADA PINKETT SMITH paired her shimmery frock with an adorable gold bow belt as she attended the Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles.

Mega superstar Will Smith flashes his bazillion dollar smile at the I Am Legend premiere in New York City on Tuesday.

Joining him at the star-studded soiree were Big Willy’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, son Jaden Smith and increasing creepy right-hand-man, Tom Cruise. What a happy little extended family!

Between Tom’s regular attendance at numerous Spice Girls concerts and his tireless Oscar campaign for buddy Will, we wonder where he is able to find time for his lovely wife Katie Holmes and baby at home!

A host of of actors and entertainment world luminaries turned out last night for what was billed as an official welcome-to-Los Angeles party for British imports David and Victoria Beckham.

Hosted by Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith, the guest list at the Museum of Contemporary Art’s Geffen Contemporary gallery was long and deep.

For the British Beckhams, it was a taste of classic Hollywood. A red carpet was rolled out at the entrance. A small army of police patrolled streets for blocks, keeping gawkers at a distance. There were limousines and TV cameras by the dozen. Helicopters thumped overhead. The works.

The guests of honour were joined at the red-carpet party by newly-married ‘Desperate Housewives’ star Eva Longoria and big name Hollywood stars Brooke Shields, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Jim Carrey and gal pal Jenny McCarthy.

According to the AP, the warehouse-like party venue was transformed with couches, elaborate lighting and floral arrangements into a glitzy nightclub for the star-studded event.

Mega A-listers George Clooney and Steven Spielberg were also expected to make an appearance but were a no show.

And to think — all this hoopla for an aging and injured soccer player and his former pop star wife (who, by the way, was wearing the fiercest shoes ever!)

Hollywood mom Drawing on her own experience with her own kids, Hollywood mom Jada Pinkett Smith helped unveil a new children’s book in New York City yesterday. And with her expressive face and gestures Will Smith’s multi-talented wife clearly made the story come alive for her audience of pre-school children.

The actress was presenting ‘The Great Tomato Adventure’, which forms part of a safety campaign to get parents to educate their children about the dangers of talking to strangers.

And while I’m not one to gossip, rumour has it that Jada is set to team up with her multi-talented hubby to pen a book about marriage and parenthood. But you didn’t hear that from me!
