The medical examiner tells the AP that the autopsy for Heath Ledger is inconclusive.
The actor died yesterday in New York City and a spokesperson for the medical examiner says it will now take up to 10 days to complete the investigation.
Meanwhile, endless fans have left flowers and candles outside the apartment building in Manhattan’s SoHo where his body was found.

Here’s an update as to what has developed while you were sleeping.
First, an autopsy today may help provide answers as to what happened. But that hasn’t stopped certain publication from speculating. Page Six says the actor was taking Ambien and antidepressants.
“I was hearing that he was depressed,” says actor Jonathan Zarin, who met Heath through mutual friends. “I’m sure he must have been in a really bad place. I’d been hearing that for a while.”
Meanwhile, Michelle Williams, mother of his 2-year-old baby daughter Matilda, is said to be “devastated.” Heath’s former wife, who was shooting a movie in Sweden, was informed of his death late Tuesday night and left for NYC early Wednesday morning.
And finally, in an interview months ago, Ledger spoke of having trouble sleeping.
And, in a Times interview conducted in November (07), the troubled actor admitted his workaholic nature was keeping him awake at night.
He said, “Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night. I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going”.
And while his untimely death has shocked fans and peers alike, sources reveal that it appears Heath’s death was accidental — not a result of suicide.
There have been numerous reports suggesting that Ledger took his own life by ingesting a boatload of pills. Contrary to initial reports, the pills that were “scattered” around Ledger’s apartment were actually in containers. We’re told the containers were not littering the apartment. Rather, some were in the medicine cabinet and some in other rooms.
Truly sad.

Medical examiners can been seen carrying out in a black body bag and placing it in the back of a truck.

Heath Ledger has died.
The talented 28-year-old actor was reportedly found motionless by his housekeeper at his Soho pad earlier today. There were no signs of foul play.
He leaves behind a two-year-old daughter.
No words.
More details as they come.
UPDATE: The AP reports Heath’s death was the result of a possible drug overdose.
UPDATE: Law enforcement say prescription pills were strewn around Heath’s bed.
UPDATE: The New York Times says he was naked on the bed and is using the word “suicide” in the headline.
UPDATE: CNN says the pills appeared to be over-the-counter sleeping medication.
UPDATE: An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

Did Kate Hudson hook up with lady’s man Heath Ledger?
Forget Dax Shephard; Kate Hudson has moved on to an actual movie star. Hudson, having dumped funnyman Shephard, was linked to Dane Cook, but Thursday night she only had eyes for Heath Ledger. Spies at Beatrice Inn said they spent their evening at the trendy watering hole “kissing and making out.” A rep for Hudson said, “This is absolutely untrue. They ran into each other and chatted briefly, but that was the extent of it.” But our spy insists on the liplock.
These newly single superstars have been linked to everyone and their uncle since getting their respectives divorces. Something tells me the odds of this fling lasting any longer than a month is less likely that Kate getting nominated for an Oscar again.

The tears have barely dried since Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams announced that they were splitting up and it appears that Heath has already moved on….and up!
Just a week after announcing his split from Michelle Williams, Ledger has been squiring Danish pastry Helena Christensen all over town. Tuesday night, the two were at Wakiya “making out throughout the dinner,” our spy said. Acting like a good boyfriend, Ledger even “held her bag for her as she did interviews.” The two then went to the after-party for the movie “Eastern Promises” at the Soho Grand, and ended up at the Spotted Pig.
However, Heath has been making sure he spends plenty of quality time with his daughter Matilda. He was seen enjoying a fun day out with the 23-month-old at Manhattan’s Children’s Museum last week. An onlooker said: “They were there for a few hours in the PlayWorks area and at the sand table. Heath is a very hands-on father.”

Heath Ledger arrived at the Venice Film Festival alone today as family confirmed he has split from wife Michelle Williams. The couple are said to have separated after three years together.
Looking rather grim-faced, Heath and spoke only briefly during a press conference for his new Bob Dylan film ‘I’m Not There.’
His ex-lady love Michelle also appears in the movie but did not accompany him to promote it.
Michelle father, Larry, told Australia’s Daily Telegraph today: “We have known about their troubles for a while but it’s always a very difficult thing in life when these things happen. I know Heath and Michelle still care about each other deeply and are very committed to being great parents to their daughter.”
He blamed pressures of work for their break-up, saying: “You can never be stunned by what happens in Hollywood - I learned that when we were dealing with Michelle’s career when she was younger. Michelle was grown up at 16 and, just like Heath, her life has had an extremely fast pace to it. I feel tremendously for her and for him, and hope they will find what they want in life.”

Just as one couple says I do, another one is calling it quits.
Us Weekly is saying that Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams are officially kaput.
A source close to the couple tells Us that Heath and Michelle “quietly and amicably split a few weeks ago.”“The relationship had been rocky recently. They tried very hard to make it work but finally decided to separate. They just grew apart.”
Our condolences to the unhappy couple.

Proud daddy Heath Ledger was spotted carrying his 22-monthold daughter Matilda at LAX this weekend.
Ledger is currently playing the role of The Joker in the new ‘Batman’ film. Photos of the actor in full costume leaked online last weekend. If you missed them, rest assured they were a lot less horrific than Heath’s current look.

After the rigours of actually filming the production, stepping out on the red carpet to promote his latest flick ‘Rescue Dawn’ must surely have been a breeze for Hollywood heart-throb Christian Bale.
For the flick, in which he plays a fighter pilot who is captured during the Vietnam War and becomes the only American to ever escape from a Laos prison camp, Christian was forced to endure some tough times and gritty moments.
The movie’s director, Werner Herzog, demanded actors to lose weight in order to look suitably malnourished. Accordingly, Christian shed over 50 lbs for the role. What’s more? The uncompromising director even had his leading man reportedly chomping down on a bowl of live maggots since there are “too many computer effects in movies these days.”
Christian was accompanied to the New York premiere by wife Sibi, and his ‘Batman’ co-star Heath Ledger. The screen hunks are currently filming together again, with Christian reprising his role as the muscled Caped Crusader and Heath taking on the role of the Joker on the Chicago set of ‘The Dark Knight.’
