For the second consecutive day, Paris Hilton dominated the Hot Topics segment on ‘The View’ today.
Christian crusader Elisabeth Hasselbeck joked, “It’s funny how jailbirds and porn stars always say, ‘Oh God,’” before defending Hilton’s recent bible-reading binge. Meanwhile, funnygal Joy Behar wisecracked about Hilton’s likening prison to being in a cage: “Duh, you are in a cage.” Touchee.
And for curiosity’s sake, co-host Barbara Walters, who appears to have become the Hilton mouthpiece while Paris is in the slammer, asked the visiting wife of the United Nations secretary general if her compatriots knew of Hilton’s situation. Sadly, the answer was affirmative.
Later, the gals couldn’t resist asking guest Judge Judy for her take on Paris’ new ‘tude. “Instead of bringing this spiritual books, she would have been smart to bring in a newspaper.”
Call it a case of extreme irony that Judge Judy was there to promote a book called ‘Beauty Fades, Dumb is Forever.’

It was a big snoozefest on ‘The View’ this morning as Whoopi Goldberg sat (silently) in as guest co-host.
Barbara Walters opened the show by saying that ex-alum Rosie O’Donnell would not be back and “this makes us very sad.” She said she and Rosie had “been e-mailing each other all weekend with affectionate notes.”
Babs also kind of defended the controversial split screen that so irked Rosie, saying, “we’ve used it” before. “I just think that so much was exacerbated by a very hot discussion.” She added that she was “grateful” to Rosie and she is “welcome back at any time.”
And while Ro indicated in a video on her blog that she and Elisabeth Hasselbeck might never be able to be friends, Elisabeth said on the show that she and Rosie were in communication over the weekend and she was tackling one of the most important “hot topics” yet — “the power of forgiveness. I believe we’ve begun that process.”
Our thoughts? Was this just damage control? I mean, the firey exchange/split screen did come at a rather opportune time (i.e. Sweeps!) Do we blame Barbara for being the mastermind behind this massive publicity stunt? Or was this just a clash of two passionate souls? Disucss.

Rosie O’Donnell is off until Tuesday.
Speculation now is whether she will return to ‘The View’ then to finish out her days until June 20, which is supposed to be her last day.
Meanwhile, Rosie’s chief writer was escorted from the building after drawing mustaches on photos of Elisabeth Hasselbeck that hang at the ABC studios.
‘Yesterday, Rosie’s chief writer, Janette Barber, was allegedly escorted from the building after she was caught drawing moustaches on photographs of Hasselbeck that hang in the “View” studios.The Post’s Adam Buckman reports ABC confirmed in a statement only that “photographs at ‘The View’s’ offices were defaced. Rosie O’Donnell was not in the building. ABC Legal and Human Resources are investigating the matter.” Barber is an old friend of O’Donnell who worked with her years ago on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.”‘
As for Rosie, she’s taken her thoughts to her blog, fueling speculation she might not return.
When one fan wrote, “Work isn’t worth that battle,” Rosie replied, “Agreed.” Another wrote, “Please walk away. It’s not worth it.” Rosie replied, “Well, you know when it’s time to go.”
Our thoughts? Should Rosie return? Or has the fat lady sang?

The 29-year-old reality contestant-turned-television host will announce her baby news on the show today.
She and her NFL Quarterback hubby Tim Hasselbeck will celebrate their five-year anniversary in July.
Congratulations…I guess.

Responding to waves and waves of on-screen evidence punctuated by backstage gossip that she and Rosie O’Donnell simply do not get along, Elisabeth Hasselbeck qualifies their adversarial give-and-take as simply a professional one. “Politically, we’re rivals. That is clear,” The View’s youngest cohost confirms to People. “However, we are personally friends. We are on e-mail all day long with each other.” Now that is scary, because you have to peg Hasselbeck as being one of those types who forward you decade-old chain letters and urban legend nonsense.
