A WALK IN THE PARK

Enjoying some time off work, The View hostess Elisabeth Hasselbeck enjoys a walk with her kids through Central Park in New York City.

With 7-month-old Taylor in her arms and 3-year-old Gracie testing the boundaries of her independence, the happy trio and their nanny took full advantage of the warm weather prior to kicking off their Memorial Day celebration.

Meanwhile, The View is planning on reruning today’s show in two weeks from an entirely different view that lets fans know a little about what goes on backstage. Producers are attempting the experiment with the Memorial Day episode, which was taped a week earlier. That episode featured an interview with Dina Lohan and daughter Ali, and a performance by Ryan Cabrera.

On Friday, The View will air a version of that show with backstage footage that explains what went into making it. Only about half of the original show will be seen.

Don’t expect to see any of the gals sans makeup, however. Says executive producer Bill Geddie: “There are some things that will not be seen.”

ELISABETH HASSELBECK DOES ‘FITNESS’

Elisabeth Hasselbeck shows off her post-pregnancy bikini body on the cover of the new Fitness magazine.

The View’s resident conservative trained especially hard just for the cover shoot.

“Body image has nothing to do with scale numbers, it’s how you feel inside,” Hasselbeck, who turns 31 this month, told Fitness magazine. “This is the first time I’ve felt free from that, because I am working out in a way where I feel so strong that there’s no room for those doubts.”

She adds: “I finally told myself … ‘I’ve got some curves, I’ve got a bubble butt, but I don’t mind, because it’s what powers me forward when I run.’ “

Our thoughts?

Who needs Sex and the City when you’ve got the ladies of The View?

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters and Sherri Shepherd all joined forces on Wednesday night when they attended an Evening with the Hosts of The View at The Paley Center for Media in New York City.

All the gals looked lovely in their best ladies-who-brunch attire…except for Whoopi, of course. She showed up in finest jeans and sneakers combo. Gotta love it!

ABC has gone into overdrive hyping the Monday return of Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Today, the only interview she’s doing is posted on the network’s website. Here are some highlights:

Elisabeth on what life has been like since she left for maternity leave: “Wonderfully crazy! I have loved being a full-time mom. The transition will be tricky, for everyone. Mostly, my days are full with games with Grace, laundry, feeding Taylor, trying to sneak in a 30-minute workout when I can and if I am lucky, sneaking in a shower.”

Elisabeth on how Arizona compares to New York City: “Arizona was beautiful! I was not used to seeing so much sky, mountains or sunsets. What a place [for Taylor] to be born! Fortunately, New York City is special to return to. We only have to figure out how to deal with the close quarters again. ”

Elisabeth on whether she has had time to get back in your fitness routine: “I have not gotten back into anything—namely, my jeans!”

Knocked up babymama and resident republican nut on ‘The View’ Elisabeth Hasselbeck enjoys a walk in New York City on Thursday with her 2-year-old daughter Grace.

The conservative mum-and-daughter duo strolled their Upper West Side neighbourhood in search of some new finds for the latest addition to their family (expected to arrive in November.)

Next stop for Hasselbeck? Arizona where her husband Tim has signed a contract with the NFL’s Cardinals.

Here’s hoping she settles in well and never returns!

ELISABETH HASSELBECK DOES ‘PREGNANCY’

Dangerous and offensiveView hostess Elisabeth Hasselbeck talks about “passing out” once during each pregnancy, craving Tootsie Rolls and being conservative in the upcoming issue of Pregnancy magazine.

She just has one comment about Rosie O’Donnell.

Elisabeth on being pregnant and arguing with Rosie O’Donnell: “When a woman cries, it’s never seen as a sign of strength and never seen in a positive light. A man cries and he’s sensitive, and a woman cries and she’s weak. So even when you’re debating another woman, the first person to cry pretty much loses.”

Elisabeth on being a conservative mother in 2007: “Being a conservative mother isn’t the challenge. Being a conservative in New York City on television is the challenge.”

They say time heals all wounds, but apparently not enough time has passed for Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Following last month’s very brawl that resulted with Rosie leaving the show, Elisabeth tells Access Hollywood: “You know, truthfully, I think a friend is someone who you have positive communications with, so I don’t know if I would define us as friends right now.”

I get the feeling that the pregnant View co-host is fairly sad at the way everything went down. Elisabeth adds that, though they were close in the past, she can’t predict things to come for herself and Ro.

“I did define us as friends, but I’m not going to make the leap to assume that we will or will not be friends in the future. We had so many conversations and a true friendship…If you looked at the big picture I always looked at us on the same team, even though our politics were so different.”

Still no word on who will be filling Rosie’s highly sought after seat.

A BIASED VIEW

For the second consecutive day, Paris Hilton dominated the Hot Topics segment on ‘The View’ today.

Christian crusader Elisabeth Hasselbeck joked, “It’s funny how jailbirds and porn stars always say, ‘Oh God,’” before defending Hilton’s recent bible-reading binge. Meanwhile, funnygal Joy Behar wisecracked about Hilton’s likening prison to being in a cage: “Duh, you are in a cage.” Touchee.

And for curiosity’s sake, co-host Barbara Walters, who appears to have become the Hilton mouthpiece while Paris is in the slammer, asked the visiting wife of the United Nations secretary general if her compatriots knew of Hilton’s situation. Sadly, the answer was affirmative.

Later, the gals couldn’t resist asking guest Judge Judy for her take on Paris’ new ‘tude. “Instead of bringing this spiritual books, she would have been smart to bring in a newspaper.”

Call it a case of extreme irony that Judge Judy was there to promote a book called ‘Beauty Fades, Dumb is Forever.’

FORGIVE OR FUGGEDABOUTIT?

It was a big snoozefest on ‘The View’ this morning as Whoopi Goldberg sat (silently) in as guest co-host.

Barbara Walters opened the show by saying that ex-alum Rosie O’Donnell would not be back and “this makes us very sad.” She said she and Rosie had “been e-mailing each other all weekend with affectionate notes.”

Babs also kind of defended the controversial split screen that so irked Rosie, saying, “we’ve used it” before. “I just think that so much was exacerbated by a very hot discussion.” She added that she was “grateful” to Rosie and she is “welcome back at any time.”

And while Ro indicated in a video on her blog that she and Elisabeth Hasselbeck might never be able to be friends, Elisabeth said on the show that she and Rosie were in communication over the weekend and she was tackling one of the most important “hot topics” yet — “the power of forgiveness. I believe we’ve begun that process.”

Our thoughts? Was this just damage control? I mean, the firey exchange/split screen did come at a rather opportune time (i.e. Sweeps!) Do we blame Barbara for being the mastermind behind this massive publicity stunt? Or was this just a clash of two passionate souls? Disucss.
