Nicole Richie glittered like gold as she arrived at the 30th annual Carousel Of Hope Ball at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills last night.
Every other year in October, the Carousel of Hope - with the generous assistance of our corporate sponsors and friends in the entertainment industry - raises millions of dollars in support of treatment and research programs at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.
Joining Nicole at the star-studded bash were fellow A-listers Melanie Brown, Katharine McPhee, Josh Groban, Denzel Washington, wife Pauletta Washington and their son Malcolm Washington.
The red carpet standout of the night was undoubtedly Lara Flynn Boyle. The former actress shocked attendees and photogs alike when she showed up barefoot and wearing what appeared to be a négligée.
Viewers discretion is advised on Lara Flynn’s thumbnails below. The lady has some crazy busted looking hooves.

According to Denzel Washington, the secret to a long marriage is simple: “Do whatever your wife tells you. Yes, dear. And breathe.”
The actor shares other beliefs in the new Reader’s Digest:
Denzel on getting through the hard times: “You have faith. And discipline as well. You have to work at it. I was just reading today: One day you’re going to have to walk with God when you can’t understand where he’s taking you. Your techniques, skill set and connections won’t get you through.”
Denzel on spirituality: “I read the Bible every day. I’m in my second pass-through now, in the Book of John. My pastor told me to start with the New Testament, so I did, maybe two years ago. Worked my way through it, then through the Old Tesetament. Now I’m back in the New Testament. It’s better the second time around.”

The surprise guest at last night’s ‘American Gangster’ screening at the Arclight in Hollywood was none other than Mel Gibson .
The controversial director appeared sane, sober and happy. Shocking, I know.
Mel stopped just long enough in front of the press to hug the film’s stars, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, pose for a few photos and tell the actors how much he was looking forward to seeing their film.
Hmm….a political/publicity move, perhaps? Could Mel be staging a comeback?
