Madonna may have just turned 50, but it’s 54-year-old Christie Brinkley who is defying age in the new issue of New York magazine.
As the article describes her, the newly divorced supemodel’s “hair is thick and golden, her skin is tanned but only just. Her teeth are gleaming, her waist is narrow.”
Inside the mag, Christie opens up about growing up as a California girl and becoming one of the world’s top models.
Some highlights:
On John Edwards’ affair: “Devastating. Devastating. I’ve met him, and I’ve met his lovely wife, and this is devastating news. But I don’t want to go there!”
On her stint as a working model in Paris: “You have to understand. that I came to France to be so bohemian. It was all”–and here Brinkley does an elaborate Pepé Le Pew accent–”How can you mo-dell. Is so bourgeois.”
On being “exotic” in the world of high fashion: “I was basically a surfer girl from California. I never looked like a model. Models were thin, and they were very sophisticated, and their poses were kind of like–hoity.”
On resisting the 80s cocaine culture: “I always knew I wanted to be a mom, and I always wanted my body to be healthy for those kids. And besides, it felt disrespectful to my parents.”

Only a few weeks after an ugly public divorce trial exposing her ex-husband’s indiscretions, Christie Brinkley enjoys time on her boat, aptly named “Sweet Freedom.”
The busy mother spent the beautiful weekend with her children to celebrate “Float Festival 08” off Shelter Island in Long Island, NY. Christie smiled and posed with her son, Jack, while daughter Sailor played with friends in the water.
The 54-year-old former swimsuit model still looks radiant in a bikini. She has bounced back remarkably after a painful trial that exposed personal and intimate details of her life with (now) ex-husband Peter Cook and seems poised to enjoy “Sweet Freedom” with her children and await new love.

This just in: Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook have reportedly reached a settlement in their nasty divorce trial.
After a night of intense negotiations, the two reached a settlement this morning at 6:15 AM.
Details of the deal are expected to be revealed in court later in the day.

UPDATE: Christie will retain sole custody of her children after reaching a settlement in her ugly divorce battle.
The supermodel will keep all 18 properties in the Hamptons that were being disputed and has also agreed to pay him $2.1 million.
“I am very happy with the settlement,” Christie told Access Hollywood as she entered court Thursday. “Didn’t sleep a wink. It’s a great day.”

Following a three-hour break today to discuss a
possible settlement in their divorce trial,
Christie Brinkley and
Peter Cook returned to a Central Islip courtroom today to resume battle.
When asked for comment as she walked back into the courthouse at 2:45 PM, the typically cheery former supermodel replaced her usual smile with a grimace and said: “We’re going back into trial. … I still remain very hopeful.”
The possibility of an out-of-court settlement is always a possibility at any moment in a divorce trial, but the terms of such agreements are often confidential. Admittedly, however, we prefer our celebrity divorce hearings bloody and dragged out.

Alexa Ray Joel testified yesterday in her mom Christie Brinkley’s divorce settlement case and said on the stand that Peter Cook treated her well before he married her mother.
But afterward? She said he was constantly on her case, chastising her “if I chewed too loud” and criticizing her piano playing.
Said the aspiring singer/songwriter/pianist: “He was just very critical of me in general.”
Wait — it gets worse. When her lengthy shower caused a leak in the kitchen below in 2003, Cook allegedly stormed into the bathroom and demanded she mop up immediately. When she got downstairs wearing only a towel, he pushed her head into a bucket and yelled, “You clean this up!” she said.
Now we’ve learned that not only did Cook like to spend absurd amounts of money on porn, but he also enjoyed shattering the self esteem of you girls.
Way to pick ‘em, Christie!

Christie Brinkley’s divorce trial has only just started and it’s already opening with a bang!!
The supermodel’s estranged husband Peter Cook said in court today that he had sex with his teenage lover in his office, then paid her $300 000 while hoping to keep their affair quiet.
What’s more? The no good, two-timing sleezebag also showered her with spending money, including $500 hidden under a rock.
All this came after Christie’s lawyer pointed out that Cook spent $3000 a month on porn.
What a guy!

Christie Brinkley walked proudly this morning as she was escorted by officers into the New York State Supreme Court in Central Islip to commence her divorce trial against Peter Cook.
The ageless supermodel and and her two-timing ex have been separated since 2006 when it was discovered that Peter had an affair with his 18-year-old assistant Diana Bianchi, who is expected to be among the first witnesses to testify in the trial.
When she arrived, Christie told reporters: “I really hoped with all my heart that we could’ve settled this out of court but since we are here to trial today, I’m going to save my comments for the courtroom.”
Go kick some ass, girl!

Looking more stunning than ever, Christie Brinkley flashes her trillion dollar she today as the ageless supermodel unveils the 550-pound, 9½-foot Swarovski Star made of 25 000 crystals, which each year sits atop the famed Rockefeller Center holiday tree.
Several miniature stars created by celebs, including John Stamos, Cindy Crawford, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher and Sarah Michelle Gellar, are being auctioned on eBay; all proceeds go to Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation for seriously ill kids.

Is Paul McCartney dating Renee Zellweger or Christie Brinkley? Or both? The former Beetle was spotted egaging in some hardcore flirting at a Hamptons bash over the weekend.
Zellweger, 38, spent some animated face time with Beatle Paul McCartney on Saturday jamming to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
As Zellweger smiled, laughed and hung on the 65-year-old musical icon’s every word, our lensman spotted Brinkley casting what appeared to be less-than-delighted glimpses in their direction - and no wonder.
After all, it was just two weeks ago at a James Taylor concert in the same East Hampton venue that Brinkley, 53, sparked romance rumors when she and Sir Paul, who is estranged but not yet divorced from Heather Mills, cut a rug.
Whatever the case may be, Paul has shown quite an affinity over the years for younger blondes — and both Renee and Christie certainly fit that bill.
