Former president Bill Clinton says his wife didn’t really want to be Democrat Barack Obama’s running mate, but would have done it if asked.

“She said, ‘if [Obama] asks, I’ll do it, because it’s my duty.’ She loves being a senator for New York and has more freedom to develop her positions on the issues and her things,” Clinton said of his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, on ABC’s The View.

The former president said Obama made a good choice with Delaware Sen. Joe Biden. He said Americans admire Republican John McCain but predicted Obama will win.

If you missed it, you can catch the second and third part of Bill’s interview with the ladies HERE!

Word is that Bill Clinton gave a very cold shoulder to Oprah Winfrey at Nelson Mandela’s b-day party.

A source at the dinner in Hyde Park, catered by Gordon Ramsay, told us, “There was a very cold reception between them.” When Winfrey went over to Mandela’s table, where Clinton was seated, “Oprah and Bill, who used to be very close, barely acknowledged one another,” the source said.

Ahhh, the intoxicating aroma of sour grapes is in the air….

Check out former U.S. president Bill Clinton nodding off during a service to honour the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Convent Avenue Baptist Church in Harlem, New York yesterday. Too funny!

It’s not the first time Clinton has fallen asleep in public. He has also nodded off at a Mets baseball game and at Ronald Reagan’s funeral.
