He’s known for his tough guy monologues, but Al Pacino turned into a big softie when he tried to deliver the perfect speech at the 35th AFI Life Achievement Award tribute to Al Pacino.
The ‘Scarface’ legend was lost for words recently when he accepted a lifetime achievement award. In what was a clearly an emotional moment for the actor, he took to the Hollywood stage to accept the trophy from fellow grade A thespian, Sean Penn, and announced: “I need a character,” after not finding the words to express what he wanted to say.
Among those offering their congratulations during the dinner were Andy Garcia, Samuel L. Jackson and Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx, who appeared with Al in ‘Any Given Sunday’ and described him as “the greatest actor in the world.”
No arguments here.
