Now that Britney Spears’ made an official televison comeback, rumours are swirling that she may once again make a foray on to the small screen.

This, of course, begs the question: Why?

Page Six reports that Brit’s dad wants her to ditch music and pursue TV because she’s good at it and the hours are better.

A Spears insider said, “Britney did a great job on ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ She got the show its highest ratings yet, but more importantly for Jamie, he wants his daughter at a normal 9-to-5 job to keep her working and out of trouble. A sitcom would do that. So he’s exploring several offers for Britney to have her own show.”

Saturday Night Live producers, still recovering from Ashlee Simpson’s lip synching on the show in October 2004, have declined to slot her on the show for promoting her new album Bittersweet World.

An insider tells the New York Post that Ashlee’s father and manager, Joe Simpson, was keen that she appear on SNL but the producers said no because she was “a pain” during her time at SNL in 2004.

Ashlee’s flak says, “We’re not doing SNL because they’re dark the week we are here in April and there were no other opportunities later in the year.”

Giada De Laurentiis has given birth to a girl!

De Laurentiis and her husband, Todd Thompson, welcomed their first child, Jade Marie De Laurentiis Thompson, Saturday in Los Angeles, her representative says.

The baby is the first for the 37-year-old Food Network star and Today contributor and her 44-year-old clothing designer beau.

When asked about her new bundle of joy, Giada described her as golden and crispy on the outside but soft and tender on the inside.

After putting little Emme and Max to bed, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony paint the town rojo as the new parents attend the Shine A Light premiere at New York’s famed Ziegfeld Theater on Sunday.

Celebrity stylist and controversial figure Rachel Zoe was spotted entering Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills with her husband last night.

Zoe has been highly criticized and accused of causing much of the super thin craze that swept over Hollywood in recent years. She was the stylist of both Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan at the height of their respective weight loss controversies and was said to have a hand in pressuring them to become waifs.

Although Zoe denies the allegations, saying she’s naturally thin and sometimes people who spend a lot of time together simply rub off on one another, it’s hard not to wonder if she did any eating once inside the celeb-friendly establishment.
