Pill-popping pop princess Britney Spears is now undergoing a detox process at the UCLA Medical Center where medical experts will stabilize her before administering new meds to treat her alleged bipolar condition.

Detoxification is necessary for doctors to rid the patient’s system of other drugs so that they can be properly diagnosed and prescribed a course of treatment.

Detox is especially helpful in cases where the patient may have been misdiagnosed and administered medication that might have exacerbated or altered the person’s symptoms.

Sounds great. Where do I sign up for some Britney Detox?

The toothy starlet was all smiles as she hosted a Super Bowl kick-off party last night at Myst night club in Scottsdale, AZ.

The redheaded lip-syncing sensation brought her Fall Out Boy bassist beau Pete Wentz to accompany her at the club. Ashlee sang three songs for the packed house from her upcoming album, Bittersweet World.

Her performance lasted less than 20 minutes, and with drinks priced at $16, partygoers were less than thrilled to say the least.

Sam Lutfi is no longer at Britney Spears’ hospital bedside and perhaps that’s the best thing that’s happened to her yet!

This is only one of two R.O.’s that were filed against the faux manager — one was issued in 2004 followed by another in 2007.

In both cases, he was ordered to stay 100 yards away from the petitioners.

Following his humanitarian mission in Sudan and India, George Clooney visits the United Nations in New York City on Thursday to receive his Messenger Of Peace designation.

Joined by his mom and dad, the actor-cum-dogooder was named the U.N.’s 9th Messenger Of Peace by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in honour of his campaign to end the war in Darfur and increase the region’s humanitarian aid.

Next up for George the Great? A series of meetings with country dignitaries who contribute troops to the U.N.’s 17 peacekeeping missions worldwide.

Once again, Rosie O’Donnell is using her blog to talk about how the Spears family could never have foreseen her future troubles when Britney first became famous.

Says Ro: “They could not have known at the start that this would be the result. It is sold as the answer,” while adding, “she wanted it, the mothers always said, as way of both apology and explanation.”

Rosie also expresses her desire to help Britney: “If I had a magic wand, I would will her the strength, Windex all windows, watch the sun warm her soul.”

Rosie concludes by writing: “All together now, we pray.”

Britney Spears is at the UCLA Medical Center currently under evaluation and placed on a 5150, which is a 72-hour hold. Now there is been speculation the meltdown-prone songstress may even be in the hospital for a full two weeks.

L.A. Superior Court spokesperson Allan Parachini tells the AP: “The way it works is a law enforcement agency or mental health professional can conclude that someone is a danger to self or others, and undertake an involuntary commitment. To extend that for another 14 days there has to be a court hearing. That’s typically held in the hospital where the patient is.”

Two weeks without Britney? There is a god!!!

With her daughter locked up in the hospital and surrounded by money-hungry sharks, Lynne Spears is planning to try and take her daughter home to Louisiana.

Lynne feels that the biggest problem facing Britney’s recovery is the circle of friends she’s become involved with and Lynne desperately wants to extricate her daughter from that. “Brit has an amazing support system in Louisiana,” Flanagan says, reinforcing the belief that Britney simply can’t get the help she needs while she remains in L.A. “Lynn was holding up reasonably well, but her first priority and concern right now is with her daughter and helping her through this very tough situation that she is in.”

So far, so good.

Could Britney’s family actually be turning things around for her? It sure looks to be the case. They have reportedly banded together in an attempt to kick out the negative influence that is Sam Lutfi.
