High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens joined Twilight star Nikki Reed and her close friend, musician Sage Dill, for an afternoon of shopping along the trendy Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles today (April 24).

Vanessa could be seen stopping in at Fred Segal and Diesel while Reed and Dill shopped for boots at London Boots. The trio eventually meet up for lunch at Lala’s Argentine Grill.

Meanwhile, Vanessa has decided on her next movie project — and it’s a beast! (Ok, it’s just update of Beauty and the Beast.)

According to Variety, Beastly – which is based on Alex Finn’s novel that reimagined the classic fairy tale — takes place in present-day New York and follows a teenage boy who finds love only after experiencing a grotesque transformation.

Daniel Barnz of Sugarland fame is writing and directing the film.
