Country music superstar Faith Hill poses as herself and three other iconic blondes — Grace Kelly, Twiggy and Brigitte Bardot — in the upcoming May issue of Redbook, on newsstands April 28.
Inside, in a candid interview, Faith explains why she chose these particular blondes, her similarities and differences with each one, and what she learned from the transformations:
As the 1950s dazzling actress-turned-princess Grace Kelly, Faith exudes elegance, sophistication, beauty and poise in a cream-colored, one-shouldered gown by Randi Rham and a pearl necklace and earrings by Neil Lane.
“Grace is probably the one that I relate to the most in my life and the one that I have most in common with,” says Faith. “I have this seemingly high-profile life, like Grace did, and we were both the mother of three children. She epitomizes the all-American girl with a quiet class and inner strength. She was like everybody’s girl—seemingly comfortable and accessible—yet untouchable.”
As ‘60s supermodel Twiggy, Faith channels the model’s innocence and openness in an Op-Art-style shift in a dramatic black and white shot.
“It was hard for me to look at myself as Twiggy,” she admits. “I think she was in her late teens when the original photo was taken. And there’s a very big difference between a teenager and a 41-year old!”
Adorned in a garland of colorful flowers, flowing golden locks and heavy eye makeup, Faith plays up her sensual side as French actress, model and singer Brigitte Bardot.
“To be completely candid, I felt least like Brigitte of all three of the women,” says Faith. “To me, sexuality is very different from sensuality. And Brigitte possesses this sensual essence that is so powerful. If I could possess that kind of sensuality, I would want to possess it like she does.”
