In the Joe Wright-direct flick, Robert Downey Jr. plays the role of a charismatic yet scruffy L.A. reporter who befriends a homeless and mentally ill Julliard trained musician (Jamie), while looking for a new article for the paper.
There was lots of Oscar buzz surrounding this Beautiful Mind-esque drama, but Paramount Pictures postponed the release date from late fall 2008 to this year, which increases the likelinesss that Downey and Foxx might miss out on possible Oscar nods.
The Academy tends to remember only the last three months of a year when voting. But if anyone can beat the odds, it’s definitely these two talented thespians!

Halle looks so gorgeous and I can’t wait to see the movie.
I think this movie is going to be an Oscar candidate. I saw the soloists story on 60 minutes and it was really incredible.
