Three generations of Goldberg women stepped out out in Hollywood yesterday (April 17) as Whoopi Goldberg treated daughter Alexandrea Martin and granddaughters, Amarah Skye and Jerzey Martin, to a shopping spree at the Ed Hardy store on Melrose Ave.
Whoopi has often spoken of her daughter, who had her first daughter at 15-years-old. At the time, the then 40-year-old comedian had been quoted as saying that the decision was “the absolute wrong thing” but nontheless she is happy that her daughter was happy.
Meanwhile, there is a new interivew with the now 53-year-old host of The View in the weekend edition of Britain’s Guardian. Whoopi is as candid as ever. Some highlights:
Whoopi on The Color Purple: “I told her [author Alice Walker] her I would play a Venetian blind, dirt on the floor, anything.”
Whoopi on looks: “I don’t look like Halle Berry. But chances are, she’s going to end up looking like me.”
Whoopi on acting: “An actress can only play a woman. I’m an actor, I can play anything.”
Whoopi on the war on terror: “If you’re anti-war and you tried to explain your stance, it didn’t matter - particularly in the entertainment industry. You were labelled unpatriotic, which is kind of dopey, because if you’re anti-war it means you don’t want anybody to die.”
Whoopi on politics: “I don’t really view communism as a bad thing.”
Whoopi on the election of George Bush: “The country got a new president who has kindly given me a lot of material, and I got the menopause - so I guess we’re all going through shocking changes.”
Whoopi on driving: “I don’t like driving very much. That makes me very unhappy, because I scream a lot in the car, but other than that, life is actually pretty good.”
Whoopi on life: “Normal is nothing more than a cycle on a washing machine.”

Whoppi is awesome! I love the fact that she is completely honest and has no fear about what she says.
I agree^^^ She is the only good part of The View
I agree with her about communism. It sure as hell beats capitalism.
Notice how only people stupid enough to make a remark like that , won’t give up their millions or their Freedom to live under real communism.
I have yet to see people trying to run from Democracy .
Yet Cubans and Chinese and others around the world risk their lives every day to have what we have and break into this country.
Oh toot, you don’t get it. Communism as idea is actually a good thing. The people who use communism to mask their blatant capitalism are the problem. And most Cubans are proud people, with grace and dignity, facing whatever comes their way knowing that they do the right thing.
LMAO, to the Halle Berry comment!
didn’t she recently bitch about taxes?
it’s strange, you’d think liberals who insist that my grandpa is a monkey would understand why communism can never work with the human species.
we’re just animals who need and respond to incentives, punishments and competition.
ask a cuban-american.
idiots.
Yeah Adam! let’s kill those republicans and their science!
I cracked up at the Halle comment too!
I love her.
Miss janet you keep sipping the Obamamedia Koolaid and you’ll get your wish soon enough.
I think Whoopi is a very strong woman but sometimes her opinions can come across a little too dominating I think, like she’s not even willing to hear another opinion at all because she is so dead set that she is right. She seems a little bit full of herself as well. There are some awesome quotes there though, I love the one about Halle Berry!
how is she in LA, i thought she is afraid of flying? she made such a big deal of going to london on a private jet with a doctor full of needles by her side last week.
As if she knows anything about the communism…I like that!
