Upon hearing of Edie’s demise: “I said, ‘OK, sayonara,” she says. “It’s been a great ride. Thank you.”
Besides, “When the show started it was such a different beast. It was exciting and dangerous and funny and edgy and bizarre,” she says. “It started feeling a little complacent, and that was very frustrating.”
Part of what motivated the storyline was financial problems. “There has been tremendous pressure put on me to cut costs,” says creator Marc Cherry. “The network is saying to all the shows, ‘The company is really hurting financially. You must find a way to produce these shows more cheaply.” With Nicolette’s depature, Housewives will save an estimated $100 - 200 000 per episode.)
But Cherry still plans to replace her. “We will find a new kind of sexiness coming through Wisteria Lane. What I won’t do is cast another fortysomething sexy blonde. …[Nicollette] performed the aging neighborhood tramp better than anyone has ever done before.”

The should cancel the show becuase it really has sucked for a long time. The first year was decent at best.
LOL at his last quote, that is such a nice indirect dig, lololol.
A) I don’t know why she stayed on the show in the first place. Her storyline was embarassingly thin. B) If Cherry was needing to save money then why did they allow him to continue adding new characters? Puh-leeze! What an obvious lie.
Edie was one of the best characters on the show. So funny and Nicolette really did play her to perfection. That last quote is a bit baffling though, I know it’s meant to be a compliment but…
Did he have to say “aging tramp”? He coulda said something like mature vixen. Haha, such an obvious dig.
