Just days after completing Guy Ritchie’s upcoming Sherlock Holmes flick, the 44-year-old actor has already begun production on the highly-anticipated Iron Man sequel.
His costar Gwyneth Paltrow has also begun filming. The camera-shy actress was seen being driven to the Los Angeles set today (April 6) from the trailers in a black Bentley.
Before production began early this morning, Dr. Downey enjoyed a superhero birthday party over the weekend with friends and castmembers.
The superstar thespian partied at the Beverly Hills Thompson Hotel in Los Angeles with his wife Susan, Gwyneth, Jon Favreau and Sam Rockwell, who will join him for the new film.
Gwynnie brought hubby Chris Martin to the bash, which was also attended by the actor’s pals Sting and Trudie Styler, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor.
The guests toasted the birthday boy with hot sake.

Robert Downey was great in Ironman and he will kick ass in the sequel. Sherlock Holmes…not so sure about!
