Decked out in leafy greens and cabbage, 82-year-old Cloris Leachman goes glam in the new pro-vegetarian PETA ad being unveiled in Times Square today (March 31).
According to the militant animal rights group, Cloris is an example of how vegetarians age gracefully — as evidenced by her impressive run on Dancing With the Stars.
Almost half a century ago, she decided to try a vegetarian diet for her health. As she tells PETA, “I felt a million times better, and I’ve never had a bite of meat ever since then.”

Hey, it’s Cloris Leafman!
What is that odd sulphur smell?
In an old T.V. Guide interview (maybe the 70’s?) Cloris Leachman stated that “Water is the fountain of youth”
For some odd reason it stuck with me, and I quote her to this day always giving her full credit.
who can not love Cloris? She has given us all so much to laugh about over the years. Who can forget Young Frankenstein? Phyllis? High Anxiety?
No wonder she looks so healthy. I really dig this ad. Thanks for posting it.
I’m so sick of the “Naked” Peta adds! Good for them for giving it a twist and whoever styled that photo did an amazing job! It’s Gorgeous!
I really wish PETA didn’t come across like such psychos because they have a good message. I feel great too with not eating meat and eating more fruits and vegetables.
You don’t just have to live on beans and tofu for protein! You can get protein lots of places, vegetables and pasta noodles included.
Even if someone ate one vegetarian meal a week, it would really help their health. Doctors etc are saying now to try and limit your meat intake.
And the picture is GORGEOUS. A non-psychotic way to get a message across.
What an awesome campaign! I love it! Very clever indeed and Chloris looks beautiful! So elegant! PETA does make a bad name for itself sometimes. I’ve been an active member for a few years now and they really do have a great message to get out there, it’s just sometimes they go to the extreme. If someone asks me about my vegetarianism or about animal cruelty I will happily tell them but I don’t like people pushing their beliefs onto someone else.
