Meanwhile, a British children’s charity is urging Madge to “think twice” before adding another African child to her celebrity family.
Why? Save the Children UK spokesman Dominic Nutt says she risks the possibility of sending the wrong message because international adoptions are often unnecessary and some even feed into a criminal “adoption industry.” The organization believes that children should be kept in the care of their extended families or within their communities.
Madonna and the Mercy’s uncle are expected to appear in court on Monday to sign adoption papers.

People have been adopting kids all over the world for years… so why kick up dirt now??? Before Brad and Angie there was Josephine Baker who adopted, with her second husband, twelve children from around the world, making her home a World Village. May be its becuz I’m a naive American. But how is it more humane to leave kids in an orphanage over adopting them?

Yes by all means allow these children to languish in orphanages in Malawi rather than living in an environment that can be loving, healthy, and secure. Isn’t it safe to assume that if these children had relatives in Malawi who could care for them that they wouldn’t be in an orphanage?
…If Madonna was really that altruistic she would set up clinics or fund a hosptial and school rather then displace another child away from their people and culture.
As well meaning as an adoption is, I agree with Dominic Nutt, the unintended consequence of adopting (or ‘buying’) a baby from third world country can and DOES increase the likelihood of child kidnapping and murders to get the “perfect baby”.
History will show that taking a child away from their community and culture can and does have long term consequences…(look up Residential School qnd what happened to the First Nation commnuities both and Canada and the United States…as well as Australia! Children where stolen from their mothers arms to raise them as “white people” ….

madonna is funding orphanages and various charities in malawi. she made a friggin movie about the country to raise awareness. so it’s very natural that she wants to adopt from there, especially with young david in mind.

I don’t like Madonna whatsoever, but I agree with MissJanet. Would people rather the little girl stay in an orphanage, not have access to adequate medical care, live in poverty, etc.? The girl’s quality of life would improve so much through this adoption. I hope it goes through.

it’s like Jolie, taking that Vietnamese orphan, ignoring the family, his friends, his mother etc….. and then placing him a wetsren society of wealth, painting his fingernails and giving him a mohawk. Money doesnt make happiness….the child lost his culture and chance of bonding with his REAL maternal mother. The child only had a few missing pieces to the puzzle and could have lived a happy life, …..but Jolie wanted to appear superior to other celebrities………..just like the knives and power domination of her father……… so instead of adopting from the US, she adopted from elsewhere………..it’s more exclusive dharling……….all they do is hand off the kids to other people to look after. It’s to make them seem exclusive, when they are really overpaid clothes horses.
I think you can really look at this in two ways. In one way it’s amazing if somebody can give a child a better life by taking them out of their third world country and giving them a home, food and most importantly a future that they never would have had if they had stayed there. Look at Ange’s kids…who knows if they would even still be alive right now if they hadn’t been adopted by her and Brad! But then on the other hand it must be a huge culture shock for kids to be taken into the crazy world of celebrity after living such a simple and hard life. Angelina has often talked about cooking the traditional food and teaching her kids about their home country and I really think that’s as much as you can do. It wouldn’t be fair on the child to keep them in contact with their real parents in my opinion. When they are older they can make that choice themselves, but for now they are up for adoption for a reason.
