Enjoying a day out sans his old lady, Jake Gyllenhaal stepped out in Beverly Hills today (March 26) to do some shopping.

The 28-year-old actor’s involvement in the Global Green USA organization in being touted on MySpace Celebrity today, but he actually helped launch the organization’s “National Green Schools” initiative last month by helping kids clean out and tend to gardens at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles.

Global Green is calling upon the public to sign a letter urging President Barack Obama to push Congress to make green schools a high priority in the 2009 legislative and to urge local school districts and city councils, mayors, governors, and state legislators to utilize green standards for school construction.
