Natalie Portman, Kyra Sedgwick and Chloe Sevigny have joined forces in a new video called ‘The Bulb.’

The socially conscious Hollywood beauties explain how an action as simple as changing a light bulb can help reverse the effects of greenhouse gases.

So, if you can’t go green for yourself or the planet, do it for Natalie.

    I don’t know if its good for global warming but it does help on the electric bill.

    i was thinking what Barks thought.
    i wish the video explained WHY. can someone tell me how that bulb will help? is it because it lasts longer, made with different components? why??

    Yup! they’re right. I’ve been using those bulbs for two years now. In the living room and in the kitchen. Not only do they help your electric bill, but they also last a long time and light incredibly.

    Here are a few reasons why it helps, off the top of my head:
    1. The energy saving bulbs are more efficient in that they convert more electrical energy into light (25%), as opposed to regular bulbs (5%). The rest is converted into heat.
    2. Last up to 10 times longer. Bulbs are thrown out with less frequency :).
    3. These bulbs also produce light from less electricity than regular bulbs. Some say as much as 60-80% can be saved in energy.
    4. Reduces CO2 emissions (hence if everyone in America replaced one bulb = one million cars off the road thing).

    thanks Aysla. i assumed about the engergy savings and less waste. but didn’t know about the the co2 part. pretty amazing!

    Every things that Nat does is measure, like the Bulb, taken care that she put saving people in Africa or the invironment she has a great heart and FINCA is an example of what she does in the World, some celebreties think only about themselves, but Nat is an exemption, and what she does for me is wonderfull like and actress that never loss her head. I would recomend her to an Oscar because she has always put her future in stake when I remember Where the heart is, Closer and many other films that she humbly realize started when she was only 12 years old. My heart is with her, because I love her to death.
