Proving that Aussie’s are not well known for their musical tastes, American rockers 30 Seconds to Mars dominated the MTV Australia Video Music Awards in Sydney tonight.
The band’s ‘The Kill (Bury Me)’ was named Video of the Year ahead of rivals including Australian band Wolfmother’s ‘Joker and the Thief’ and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Ain’t No Other Man.’
Meanwhile Justin Timberlake, who had led the nominations list, walked away with only one award - Best Hook Up, for his collaboration with music producer Timbaland on ‘SexyBack.’
And finally, the last laugh went to Snoop Dogg, who was refused admission to Australia on character grounds last week. His ‘That’s That’ duo with R Kelly was named Best Hip Hop Video.
Nicole Richie is famous for doing nothing except being a party girl, but she can add diva to her CV after the big show. We hear that Nicole was the only presenter who refused to take part in the dress rehearsal, not leaving her dressing room all day. What’s more — we hear that her management had diva demands regarding her dressing room — unlike the slight star, her room had to be large.Richie’s trip hasn’t been a happy one — she upset fans when she arrived at Sydney Airport on Saturday, refusing to sign autographs for many who had waited up to 48 hours for a glimpse of their idol.
Pink was the other main winner for the night, picking up the Best Female Artist and Download of the Year awards.
The show’s co-hosts Good Charlotte and Fergie were well chosen by producers as they were clearly favourites with MTV viewers, who decided the winners for most of last night’s show. The Fergmeister picked up Sexiest Video for ‘Fergalicious.’

I wish I could have been there!! Would have been great to see celebs in Australia. They had a pretty good line up this year really, considering the awards show is pretty new and not many performers are too keen to travel all that way.
Fergie- My friend who was working backstage said Fergie was awesome. Really fun to work with and apparently she looks even better in person. She looks great here….her body is staying vicious that’s for sure!!
Nicole- Love her dress!! I think she’s been looking really good lately and I love that she went down to Australia. I’m sure she will love it there, especially Sydney…parts of Australia kinda remind me of LA sometimes.
Pink- Her dress is gorgeous. It’s Collette Dinnigan a really well-known Aussie designer. Good to see she’s supporting the local talent! I’m loving her new glammed up look too…she really needed to do that to get away from her butchness.
