She’s proven she can do pratfalls, steal Johnny Cash’s heart — and walk away with a little golden statue. In the current issue of Entertainment Weekly, Reese Witherspoon talks love, life and how she’s taken her game to a whole new level in political drama ‘Rendition.’
Reese on ‘Rendition’: ”It doesn’t smash people over the head with a message — you’re not even sure if the husband is innocent or guilty — which is one of the reasons I wanted to do it. ‘It represents different cultures in a real human way.”Reese on politics: “Actors have this influence — people ask about our clothes and things like that. I don’t want my politics to become part of that. It’s personal to me.”
Reese on the role fame plays in her movie choices: “I’ve been to those marketing meetings where they talk about your approval ratings, who likes you and who doesn’t. But I don’t pay them much attention. The way I choose things is not that studied. I just try to make films that make me feel good. Honestly, nothing has really changed. I still feel like I did when I first left my parents’ house. I’m still not sure what I can afford. I still call up my accountant if I want to rent a beach house for a weekend. I’ll call and ask him, ‘Can I afford that?”
As for Reese’s alleged relationship with costar Jake Gyllenhaal, ‘Rendition’ director Gavin Hood says: “To this day, I genuinely don’t know if they had a relationship. But I can promise you that Reese and Jake were never together on the set. All of Jake’s scenes took place in Morocco and all Reese’s in L.A. The only time they crossed paths — when the paparazzi caught them — was on the way into a wardrobe fitting. Maybe some chemistry happened as they passed in the parking lot that day — I don’t know. All I can say is that she was absolutely focused when it came to making the movie.”

Its good that she understands she doesn’t have an endless supply of money. There are so many ppl that wash up and never earn another dime in the industry.

I don’t like her. I don’t know why but I don’t and I can’t make myself.
She seems like a genuinely nice person, I hate that her marriage didn’t work out. I never thought much of her acting - I thought of her as the dumb legally blonde chic - until I recently saw Election, it was on late night cable, and she was great in it.

I love the director, he just starts gossiping like they let him! Reese Witherspoon is great, really sassy and intelligent but you gotta accept that she is getting older she’s not going to look the same, are we that cynical that we HAVE to believe everyone and his mother has had surgery?
I love her! She’s one of those actresses out there who has a great acting career and good looks, its kinda rare nowadays. She’s really lucky that she hasn’t been typecast as well. After Legally Blonde I thought most of her movies would be her playing a ditzy blonde but she’s really handled her career well. I loved her in Walk the Line, I almost forgot she was Reese for a while and saw her as June. That’s what happens when someone is a good actress.

For me Reese is THE REAL DEAL, no i dont think she is the most beautiful woman in the world, but she is cute, talented and more important a true movie star, she is bankable and trully have a fan base, not in the Jennifer Aniston way (they buy magazines about her but dont give a dman about her movies) her audience go see her movies and this in Hollywood is gold.
Also like the interview said actress like Charlize, Angelina, Cameron Diaz or Scarlet Jonhanson dont really can open a movie, and Reese sure can.
