Christian Bale is getting more celebrity support in light of his verbal assault on an unsuspecting director of photography.
Last night, Darren Aronofsky told the BBC that he thinks the actor’s profanity-laced rant was “reasonable,” adding: “I think he was right. I don’t think he was out of line.”
The Wrestler director continued: “It is a sacred time between action and cut. If it was the first time it was excusable, but a second time that ruins it.”
Our thoughts? Was the meltdown acceptable considering the levity of the situation?

No, maybe if he just screamed at him once…”WTF is wrong with you, Asshole” or something like that but he went on forever, there’s no way that within that rant he didn’t have time to ask himself “Is this too much?” “Am I being a dickhead?” the answer to both would have been a big ole YES.

Christian Bale is an artist whose craft was compromised, blah, blah, blah. Hey, the director and cinematographer and makeup and costumes, to name a few, are all artists too. This is not about craft but about a spoiled man/boy who can’t control himself. He must be a royal pain to work with…everyone on their tippytoes not to set him off. I agree that what happened when the scene was spoiled was VERY unprofessional but there is no doubt that Christian is an a**hole. As for how or why the tape was released, you’d have to talk to Harvey at TMZ about that, he has friends in many places.
How difficult would it be for Bale to release a statement saying that his behavior was inappropriate regardless of the situation? He wasn’t in the middle of a life saving operation, he was in the middle of a scene. People in Hollywood really need to get some perspective and stop acting that whenever they act like jerks it is somehow excusable because it’s for their art. He’s making a freaking Terminator movie, not doing Shakespeare or something terribly relevant.
