As part of her role as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and founder of The Barefoot Foundation, the singer was in her home town of Barranquilla, Colombia, today (February 4) to inaugurate the Barefoot Foundation School, a new district school and community center that will serve 1590 full time students - Pre-K through high school.
Says Shakira: “This institution is a reflection of what we want to propose. Therefore I believe that society should ask its government to invest in education. A big part of why I am here is to draw attention to the issue of education.”
The institution will also provide services to nearly 9000 young people and their parents from the local community.

this is what celebrities should do with their power: Good for others!
Shakira wasn’t as poor as the kids taht will be going to this school.
You don’t have to be poor to care for the poor, it is not about her… it is about those that she still not knowing she helps.
But she has the moral awareness that most people with power lack! That’s the difference.
