BARACK AND MICHELLE’S FIRST DANCE

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were serenaded by Beyonce at their first inaugural dance today in Washington DC.

The president was dapper in a white tie while Michelle was radiant in a shimmering white, one-shouldered, floor-length gown by 26-year-old Taiwan-born, Manhattan-based designer Jason Wu. It was embellished from top to bottom with white floral details.

Barack and Michelle danced to the Etta James song At Last before celebrities and supporters alike at the Neighborhood Ball.

Next up? At least a dozen more balls and a dozen more dances. In other words, it’s gonna be a long night, Mr. President!!!

UPDATE: Now with video!

Our thoughts on the inaugural gown? Is it worthy of the style icon that Michelle is becoming? And how about Beyonce’s rendition of At Last?

It’s too bad Beyonce spoiled the surprise and revealed the first song a few days ago.
She should keep her yap shut except to sing.

The Obamas will transform Washington politics. It’s the greatest day for America in MANY years!!!

Also, I could do with A LOT less cutting to Beyonce.
Why was she even under a spotlight? The moment was supposed to be for the two Obamas–not this media hog.

God I love them!! I pray the Lord keeps them safe from harm.

*AND, Beyonce did an amazing job with her rendition of At Last… So proud of her for maintaining her composure, I would have been bawling like a baby!!

That was absolutely beautiful! I loved her dress. Awwww, that was just so cute. Beyonce did a beautiful job. That is really an honor to get to sing for them. (I don’t like her but seriously that is!)

She is no Etta James, that’s for damn sure. I think it would have been more appropriate to hear a true singing legend, like Aretha, take this number and do it right. Beyonce’s just a shitty wannabe.

Focus: The Obamas are very cute–he’s nothing short of dapper, she’s really pretty. It’s a great thing to have a couple with style back in the White House. We’ve been short on it ever since the Kennedys left.

Damn right she is no Etta James… what a shame not to have Etta sing her own song.

Beyonce is style over substance.. Michelle’s fashion choice was most excellent.. class all the way !!

seriously….did Laura or Hillary get this kind of flat out worship?! I didnt even turn on the TV today for more than his speech because I couldnt stand the gushing over the whole thing. Its embarrassing. For an economy in a recession thats disgusting how much they are spending on this whole thing.

I teared up. The rest of the program was cringe-worthy, especially Nick Cannon as DJ/announcer (ugh, stop shouting) and those bouncy people who did a few flips (whoop de doo).

I kind of feel sorry for the new President. When you think about the enormous job he has ahead of him and the sorry shape Bush left us in–I wonder if it is to much for one man to shoulder. This is almost like FDR taking office in 1933–we are in bad shape; hope he can rise to the task……can America put aside partisian politics and pull together? I hope so…..

The program was a joke, Beyowolf was a joke…she just suck, pure and simple.

Love the Obamas. Such a happy, happy day…The eight year nightmare is finally over!!
Now we have to fix the mess.

It was really nice, but I don’t know why Etta James didn’t sing it herself. She’s still living, and the last time I saw her sing, she was sounding just as great as ever.

I really started to like Beyonce a bit more tonight but not because of her song. It was her talking to Robin Roberts, and it was just so sweet and emotional how Beyonce says she’s been affected in a positive way by it all.

Well #8, it’s call an inauguration. It happens every four years when executive power is peacefully transferred to the new president. And it happens regardless of the state of the economy because of its political relevancy and affirmation of the new administration….and to answer your question, yes. Laura and Hillary did get this kind of reception because that’s what inaugurations tend to engender: lots of gushing, applause and eulogizing. As a resident of the Metro DC region for the past 16 years, who watched Bill Clinton’s inauguration from the National Mall in ‘93 and ‘97, as well as today’s inauguration of President Obama, I can proudly say that there’s nothing disgusting about giving the country some much needed hope, inspiration and encouragement.

Beyonce haters can KEEP ON HATING.

Who’s singing at the Presidential First Dance? It’s BEYONCE bitches. Singing at the 44th President’s gala. HOW FUCKING FIERCE IS THAT!??? Singing for Barack Obama, the new leader of the world’s #1 economy.

She is no doubt on top of the game- Single Ladies #1 during the Xmas holidays, then to elegance epitomized @ this gala.

    Fan for life!

P.S. Was your sub-par singer asked to sing @ the First Dance? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

What a beautiful moment I kinda teared up when they started dancing. You could feel the love between them. Obama does have a huge task ahead of him. I wish him well.

I don’t understand why so many celebs were there right front and center…as if they did anything for the country besides entertain. I would rather have seen veterans from the war in the front rows and people who gave some sort of service to the Obama campaign rather than egotistical musicians and actors. What has Denzel done for the United States besides make a couple movies? absolutely NOTHING yet he was right front and center.
and Jamie foxx’s comment “now thats a black president by the way he dances” could be considered racist had a white man said it.

and before anyone starts calling me that, I’m as black as our President. But Congrats to the Obamas I wish them luck.

That was one of the most moving things I’ve ever seen on TV. Beyond nailed it, and the First Lady and President were just… fantastic. So happy, so wonderful… GO BARACK!

To #11 - White America made Obama’s election possible. Not the Black elite. Pick up a newspaper sometime.

“…worthy of the style icon that Michelle is becoming?”
    .
Hee. All this gushing and fawning kills me. Hilarious. Michelle could have shown up in a burlap bhurka and all the obsequious little bootlickers would have raved about her chic, fashion-forward sense of style.

Wowww what a gorgeous looking couple! She is the picture of class and he looks very handsome. I hope this is the beginning of a successful term for him and I hope he can show everyone that he is the change that this country has been waiting for for so long.

Bey once sucks. I cannot for the life of me figure out how this woman is deemed to
be a great singer. Her voice is average AT BEST! She’s pretty, I’ll give her that, but damn her singing
    is just awful.

And why did this conceited bitch try and make this night about herself? No one give a rat’s ass about her
today…and there she is trying to compete with the Obama’s for attention.
