Tom Cruise and Co. were a no show, but there was still plenty of star power at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre’s 38th Anniversary Gala in Hollywood last night.
John Travolta and his life-long beard, Kelly Preston, were, as they joined fellow nut Kirstie Alley at the star-studded bash.
Hollywood vampress Priscilla Presley showed up with her new flame Nigel Lithgoe.
Washed up actress and new parent Jenna Elfman was also on hand.
Others fetting Hollywood’s favouite cult included Giovanni Ribisi, Marisol Nichols, Michael Pena, Erika Christensen and Nancy Cartwright, a.k.a. the voice of none other than Bart Simpson.
Singer-turned-plastic surgery enthusiast Taylor Dane headlined the entertainment.
There were also a lot of local members, government officials and the like, but ,you know, it was all about the famous folks.

Academy Award nominated actress Anne Archer. Yep, Scientology can happen to the best of ‘em.

‘Army Wives’ beauty Catherine Bell.

‘CSI: Miami’ actress Sofia Milos. Evidently, Scientology does not condemn plastic surgery.

I was surprised to read about Anne Archer a couple of years ago in Rolling Stone. Her son is actually a bigwig in Scientology too- one of the Higher Ups.

This has to be a cosmetic surgery convention. Y’know for the die hard fans! Its also made me appreciate just how kind….no, overwhelmingly nice the cameras and lighting are in csi:miami because sofia looks HOT in there and here she looks like an extra from a bad wax museum.

Kirstie Alley: She looks really good, I must say.
Kelly Preston: I adore her. She looks really good, and that dress is a plus.
John Travolta: Well, he has looked better. But not bad at all.
Anne Archer: Yeah, she looks okay.
Catherine Bell: I love her dress! Really, really nice.
Sofia Milos: Too much surgery, but that dress is excellent. I like it very much.

Mike I’m not a fan either, but what about the fools who believe in Jesus and the ones who believe in Buddha and oh yeah Mohammed? What makes all of them any different than the scientology craze? I’m sure people thought jews were crazy also back then when they began to believe, but it has to start somewhere. Bascially it’s all a bunch of crap to me, but that’s just me.

John Travolta looks embalmed and “casket ready” (especially with that ridiculous wig).

people “believing buddha” is not the same as people believing god in semitic religions. buddhism is more of a philosophy than a way of controlling, suppressing and gaining power by giving exact orders how people are supposed to live or else they should go to hell. why people should choose to believe in anything like that is beyond me though i do have respect for those do practice their religion peacefully. scientology is more inc than anything else - it’s beliefs are silly excuses (to gain money) yet they don’t differ so much from “actual” religions. if i had to choose i’d go for noble eightfold path.
