First she manages to make Saturday’s Virgin Festival in Baltimore and now the notorious concert canceler is all smiles at the final day of Lollapalooza today in Chicago’s Grant Park. Something must be wrong.
Amy Winehouse was the most anticipated performance of the three-day music festival’s climax. The crowd of thousands, including shirtless frat boys, drunken hipsters and lovely lasses baring their midriffs, built slowly in the minutes preceding Wino’s set, which, as it was, began 15 minutes late.
Much like her foot-high beehive, her often times strained voice was in tact. But despite the robust set, Amy failed to get the audience groovin’ — instead, it was reportedly yawning. Most crowdgoers were seemingly just waiting to hear ‘Rehab,’ her album’s breakout hit — and Amy made them wait nearly an for it.

Shes a US one hit wonder cause American music is horrible, you rather get the Sean Kingston kid at number one then a raw like Ella Fitzgerald and other great ladys of jazz artist. Amy has that old soul and voice but your too busy listening to the new Avril Lavine to notice that.

Look, lets not start getting racist here. Amy is a true talent and the tabloids don’t seem to focus on that so maybe she’s not as well known as she could be and if you wanted Amy Winehouse to appeal to the same people that buy Avril LAVIGNE then maybe you shouldn’t be listening to music. Accept that some music is just not going to appeal to a wide audience and enjoy the music for yourself. If they don’t get it, their loss.

Of course the audience were yawning … Americans only like rap & hiphop - which sucks bigtime & has no artistic merit …. they don’t get acts like amy winehouse - thanfully the rest of the world does, lets leave americans to enjoy the crap that is kanye west - more their taste.

I would have been singing and dancing throughout her entire set. I have both her CDs (and I’m American), and listen to them all the time.
You gotta give Amy Winehouse credit for originality. She’s got her own unique sound and look (although that beehive always looks like it smells) and that works for her.

I love Amy Winehouse and I am American. I also like Kanye West’s music so whatever with that bullshit. She is a great live singer when she is not drunk! Victor Atomic, that performance that you gave the link for is a great example of her being too drunk to sing and she wails alot off key.

I love her latest album! And I don’t agree with u ada; yeah, most of rap/hip hop music is crap, but in my opinion Kanye West is very talented, he definitely distinguishes himself from all the others and his knowledge of music is amazing.
Unfortunately the best argument for many is an attack from what they perceive from far far far far away and obviously have never experienced. There are DUMB americans, as well as there are DUMD europeans (e.g.:beckams). About the current president: Bush was elected by rural remote areas by really paranoid and not very intellectual people…The rest of us have had to put up with that side of america, not for that we are all thinking the same or following the same values of hypocrisy and paranoia. America produces crap culture but is all the good, progressive, and deep culture that has allowed the crap to be disseminated…Like democracy and politics allow for stupid shit to happen (bush) culture has its own failures. Amy Winehouse is reviving what was an american phenomenon…so there you have. Good culture form america and Britain coming full circle.
