CELEBRITY QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The truth is this takes place in Utah, the truth is these people are some bizarre offshoot of the Mormon Church, and the truth is a lot of Mormons gave a lot of money to the church to make Prop-8 happen. There are a lot of people who feel that is un-American and I am one of them. I do not like to see any discrimination codified on any piece of paper, any of the 50 states in America, but here’s what happens now. A little bit of light can be shed and people can see who’s responsible and that can motivate the next go around of our self correcting constitution and hopefully we can move forward instead of backwards. So lets have faith in not only the American, but Californian constitutional process.”

Tom Hanks shares his thoughts on Mormon supporters of Prop-8, branding it “un-American”, at the 3rd season premiere of Big Love

Hmmm, I thought majority rules in America. Maybe I’m wrong about this, but didn’t a Majority of California voters pass Prop 8? Just like a majority of Us voters elected Mr. Hussein Obama. He got his money from where? China, Saudia Arabia?? Nobody knows, cuz he won’t disclose it. But, he won. Where the money came from doesn’t change the fact that a majority of people voted for him.

How come thousands of of Republicans didn’t take to the streets with nightly protests?? Grow up people. If Prop 8 is this close in LaLa Land (one of the most liberal places in the US), then there is absolutely no chance in hell it will not pass in the rest of America.

If the majority rules then Bush shouldn’t ever have been president!

Also, the majority can’t eliminate the rights of minorities. Yes, minorities, the people that you probably hate because you think their skin, religion, orientation of lifestyle is ‘un-American’…how about you go back to where YOU came from? The hole in the ground your inbred family crawled out of?

The Americans voted and got propostion 8 …not the mormons..it would be like saying that all the celebrities
voted and got it.. It is done now.. so we do not need a repeat of saying it a third time.. that we will pass the
bill so that all gays can get married.. but several months later we will take it back and you can’t be married

TWO TIMES IS ENOUGH LET IT GO PLEASE NO ONE NEEDS IT AGAIN..

California is poor because hardworking taxpaying people are leaving in droves cause they can no longer afford the Liberal positions that are turning it into Venezuela where the middle class is disappearing.
Too many Illegals and unproductive citizens sucking off the taxpayer teat.

Last time I checked 50% off California wasn’t Mormon, why are they singleing out one religion,I think alot of religious people voted against it,Im tired of all the whiners(celebrites) saying we didn’t get our way so we are going to fight it,you don’t hear people that voted against Obama saying such bullsh** Just because some voted against what Tom Hanks wants they are un-american,makes me think alot less of Tom Hanks, and I used to love him.

Don’t you find it funny that liberals attack anyone who has the audacity to challenge their ideals. If you oppose gay marriage, you’re an inbred redneck married to your sister. Standing on what they instist is the moral high road, they hurl insults and curses with surprising ease.

All of you liberal morons need to realize that 70% of blacks and latinos voted for Prop 8. WOW! Kinda shuts down your whole bigot theory doesn’t it. Why can’t you accept that a MAJORITY of Americans will NEVER accept gay marriage. It’s just a fundamental difference that people have. ANd bad news for all you protesters is that, last time I checked, gays can’t procreate.

I feel sorry for americans reading those comments - it seems that gay people in america start to appear in XX and XXI century and therefore have no equal rights as not real human. In that light Europe is much more evolved culturally and progressed much further in comprehension of humanity. Most of people who made comment here can only shout it’s wrong in their monologues having no clue about tolerance.

It’s a foundational principal of American government that the minority should be protected from a “tyranny of the majority.” This is why we don’t have a direct democracy; why we have a Constitution; and a division of power among the three branches of government. They are meant to operate as checks and balances against each other. So, no, American government is not about simple majority rules, and you could learn that in a high school Civics class.
