The View’s Whoopi Goldberg hosted this year’s celeb-packed event, which kicks off the celebration of the 100th year of the NBR.
Best Actress winner Anne Hathaway was more than thrilled to pick up yet another award for her take as a recovering drug addict in Rachel Getting Married, but it was President-Elect Barack Obama’s upcoming inauguration that was on her mind.
“I am going,” she tells ET. “I’m very lucky I got to attend the Democratic National Convention and the Creative Coalition invited me to come with them. I couldn’t be more thrilled. I think we have such a wonderful man as our president now, and everyone is ready for change.”
National Board of Review winners this year included Best Actor Clintwood Eastwood for Grand Torino and Josh Brolin Best Supporting Actor for Milk. Doubt star Viola Davis and Slumdog Millionaire cutie Dev Patel both won the Breakthrough Performance by an Actor gong. As for Best Ensemble Cast? A-listers Meryl Streep, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams were feted for their on-screen chemistry in Doubt.
Other celebrity attendees on hand to catch the festivities live included Heather Graham, Diane Lane and new parents Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts.
