Each year, presenters at the Oscars are strategically announced day by day preceeding the big show. But not this year.
An an attempt to keep viewers guessing this year, Leslie Unger, a spokeswoman for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, says none of the A-list presenters will be announced before the February 22 telecast.
Oscar producers are hoping to lure TV viewers by keeping the star power a secret until showtime.
“There will be fantastic movie stars that appeal to a whole range of movie lovers and fans of our show,” she tells the AP. “We’re just not going to tell you who they all are.”
Considering that Sunday night’s Golden Globes telecast on NBC drew the lowest ratings in 13 years, this is a big risk.
We’ll see how it pans out when the ratings are released the day following the award ceremony.

Bad bad idea. Now there is zero to look forward to. Everyone knows who is going to win already.
That’s fine. I don’t care about the presenters. I just want to know who is nominated!!!!

I stopped watching all award shows a few years ago when I suddenly realized that the last movie I saw in the theater was Madagascar 1. Most of the movies nominated I don’t want to see, and most of the winners don’t deserve the honors they get.
