The entire room was on its feet as Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan made his way to the podium to accept Heath Ledger’s trophy for Best Supporting Actor at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills.
“I accept this with a mixture of sadness and incredible pride … He will be eternally missed but he will never be forgotten.”

Most deserved award of the night.
Very well said, and so very much deserved. I got a lump in my throat just seeing how respected he was in the industry. A few people have said he was only nominated because of his death, and I could not disagree more. He was a wonderful actor who played the role of the Joker perfectly and I wouldn’t be surprised if he won every award he is nominated for this award season.

Never saw the movie but just by watching that clip, I can see how amazing he was in it. He has the most subtle mannerisms. Truly embodied the character. I will definitely check it out now.
He was great, he have a reality to a character and film which is so unreal. That is why I really like this Batman series, it makes him(Batman) a human and the villians all have human roots, they aren’t superheros or from another planet, just people in extraordinary situations with lots of unusual technology.
Reality to a character …really a man that wore makeup for the whole movie..before this he was remembered
at his funeral as the BrokeBack Mountain guy.. Why not have Jake or Johnny Depp who finished Heaths last movie…for him.. give it to Chris Nolan.. what the hell happened to his parents?? To call him an icon is not that great..What movie other than this one is newsworthy
Just because he died does not give anyone the right to say It is a fantasy movie.. that is all.
His speech about Heath Ledger was really touching. We will all miss all the great performances Heath would have given had he not died so young. RIP Ennis Del Mar.

^ You’re right, and I would have been pissed had it gone any other way. Heath deserved this, and I hope the Oscar goes to him as well. I thought his role as the Joker was outstanding and unlike anything I’ve seen before. Amazing actor, RIP.
