His wife Lisa Niemi broke down in tears, Patrick got teary-eyed and Babs was at her most sympathetic. But she also asked pointed questions.
She was even bold enough to ask them was about how much time 56-year-old Patrick thought he had left. He responded by saying that in the year since his diagnosis, he had defied the statistics and “trash magazines” that predicted he should have “already been dead a long time,” but he acknowledged that time may be running out.
“I’d say five years is pretty wishful thinking,” he told Barbara. “Two years seems likely if you’re going to believe statistics.” Then he added, “I want to last until they find a cure, which means I’d better get a fire under it.”

Tragic. I saw a small clip on TV yesterday and I seriously broke down into tears. I can’t imagine being able to speak so candidly about my own death. My thoughts are with Patrick big time.
That was an awesome interview. I was absolutely glued to the TV. I’ve always been a huge fan of his and I want him to pull through so badly. I have nothing but admiration for his marriage to Lisa. It was a beautiful love story.
I just love this man. I hope he can pull through. Such a horrible disease.
I hope he lives 40 more years..He is so truthful about this sad Situation..makes you admire him
She even asked Lisa how she is going to live without him.. Gee Barbara do you have any manners at all..
He is a great actor and what about Jennifer Grey who starred with him in Dirty Dancing where is she.. Why
not have her help him out too.. The love he has for life and to hear him say that he will continue to smoke
no matter what.. what difference does it make anyway.. There is no proof that smoking causes Pancreatic
cancer…
I keep wondering why people are so shocked that he is still smoking?! Its his life he can do what he wants. He must be doing something right. He is beating the odds. Most people only live 3mons and he said last night he’s on month 10. Good luck I hope he stays with us for another 10/20 years.
Smokers are 3 times more likely to get this type of cancer and it is documented. But now that he has it, there really is no reason to quit and he should not be faulted for that. I was never a big fan, but wow, he is certainly handling this with dignity and his marriage is so strong…it’s to be admired…
Seriously… I agree with #6 & 7. This man is battling cancer. Quitting smoking isn’t going to help him much, and might actually hurt him, since quitting is so stressful. Sad to say, but the man is dying, he should be doing whatever makes him happy while he still can. This saddens me.
Perhaps we should all live like him someone with terminal illness. That way we would cherish our lives and our love ones. I certainly hope he keep his fighting spirit up all the way……..
That is so sad, I hope he can beat the odds and wish they could find a cure. Patrick seems like such an amazing guy. I hate hearing these things happens to guys like him.
