A French perfumer has won the rights to market an earthy fragrance called Shiloh. Yes, as in the baby born last year to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

A five-month legal battle came to an end last month when the actress (and her 13-month-old daughter) dropped their legal challenge to the trademark application.

Point is: The perfumer applied more than two years ago, before Shiloh Jolie-Pitt was even born.

Consider it a modern-day David vs. Goliath tale.

    read the whole story: “She says she began development of the fragrance two years ago, long before Shiloh was born on May 27, 2006. But the designer’s application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office did not occur until June 19 that year.” it does seem like the perfumer tried to make a buck off the name. but as she says, “The trademark battle “was just a huge misunderstanding,” Salimpour says,”

    I thought the whole situation was stupid… How can you trademark a name? There are a few perfumes out there with the name Ashley, but you don’t see me raising hell lol.

    The whole thing about sueing people over names is completely stupid as hell, just like Spike Lee trying to sue Spike TV over their name. Or Bon Jovi suing some coffee drink named Mijovi, because it was too simliar to his name.

    Get a grip, people — you did not INVENT your name. If that’s the case, then hell everyone should sue everyone over having the same name. All right! All you Heathers — start suing other Heathers out there. Hell, sue the makers of the movie “Heathers”.

    Ohhh! Im so sick of this dumb couple! They both hardly put two words together. Maybe with the age everyone gets some kind of wisdom, but when I listen to AJ in times when she was with BBT, I want to smack her for being so dumb and having such a poor vocabulary, although Im not an English native speaker.

    doesn’t anybody read? see the article. i agree with angelina. she thought the woman was trying to make money off her child. it was a misunderstanding. it has nothing to do with baby shiloh and resolved. and shiloh means “gift” in hebrew.

    ^I read. And I still say Angelina is a stupid arrogant cunt for jumping to the conclusion that someone is trying to exploit her child when (a) the name belongs to a million other people (and is even common in some circles) and (b) she is NOTORIOUS FOR EXPLOITING HER OWN DAMN CHILDREN (especially the adopted ones).

    Angelina is so self-centered. Shiloh is a common name, that perfume was not named Shiloh after your daughter and the woman is not trying to make money out of your daughter. Get a grip, bitch.
