Shakira is among the many celebs who have headed south to attend the Art Basel Miami Beach Festival.
Joined by some friends, the Columbian-born hipshaker was spotted strutting her stuff along South Beach yesterday after checking out some art.
Shakira is also among the names being dropped as possible performers during President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony in January. Peruvian paper El Comercio recently reported that the staunch Barack supporter may make an appearance at his inauguration.
Beyonce was the first to get vocal about her dream to perform for Obama. Then Obama’s camp had to deny the rumour that his fellow Chicagoan Jennifer Hudson was onboard to perform at the show.
Other potential performers include Alicia Keys and Leona Lewis.

She’s so boring, she always looks the same since 2002. She’s done great charity work though, so can’t hate!
Her voice is awful…its like a child with a falsetto voice. Her, Cher, and Enrique Iglesias, and most country music are like nails on a chalkboard…

Shakira is a bad singer when she is singing English songs, but her Spanish ones are fire (IMO).
As much as I like Leona she’s just gonna stand there; Alicia will get everyone hyped.

No Beyonce. I think it is so tacky that she felt it necessary to go public about wanting to perform at the inauguration. And I would love to see Leona perform because she has a beautiful voice and I’m pretty sure that even in this Britney Spears culture there is still room for singers who actually sing.
Oh yeah I forgot about Leona! ^ thank the lord, someone else who understands a true singer. At least we can appreciate the ‘Leona’s’ of this world rather than the ‘Britney’s’.
I adore her. I agree that Shakira sings better in Spanish, I don’t think I like many (if at all) of the English versions of her songs. She should do something different with her hair, though. Maybe go back to the black she used to have originally before debuting in the states. It was so cute back then.

Oh lord…not Beyonce and not Alicia Keys. Beyonce would add instant tackiness to the event and Alicia Keys is insanely dumb and probably doesn’t even know who Barack Obama is, she has weird political theories as well so cross her out. Leona Lewis isn’t even American so I doubt she would perform, that would be kind of strange. Honestly as overrated as I think she is, Jennifer Hudson would probably be a good choice. I would prefer someone with a bit more class and a longer history in the business though, like Celine Dion or something. Mariah Carey wouldn’t be bad either.

Did you know that Shakira lives in the Bahamas? Why she does that? Because she doesn’t want to pay taxes to Colombia, her native country that is poor and certainly would need the money to build schools etc. for poor kids. Instead she loves to pose as a humanitarian.
