Heidi Montag’s mom is none too please that her daughter eloped with Spencer Pratt in Mexico last month. In an interview with Us Weekly, Darlene Egelhoff says that Spencer has been nothing but trouble for her daughter and is confident that the marriage won’t last very long.
Her guess? “Six months.”
“Spencer has tried to cut everyone out of her life,” Darlene tells the mag. “I’ve been honest with Heidi, and it’s caused our relationship to decline. I’m more devastated about that than the marriage, because I’m confident the marriage won’t work out. God says, ‘Love your enemies,’ but I never expected it to be my son-in-law.” She added. “I think it’s the biggest mistake Heidi’s ever made.”
Darlene goes on to say that she isn’t even sure if Heidi made her own decision to marry Spencer or if there were other factors involved in her decision. “He’s manipulative and seems to have power over Heidi,” she reveals. “I would like to see a blood test from Mexico. It wouldn’t surprise me if he had her drugged.”
For their part, newlywed Heidi and Spencer aren’t holding back when it comes to issuing a response. “She should be happy I found someone I love,” says the blushing bride. “Some people go their entire lives without finding that.” Adds the groom: “I think her mom needs to take a real fat chill pill and be happy for her daughter.”

I completely agree with her mother. Spencer has treated Heidi and her family like absolute shit. Heidi is crazy to want to be with someone who has so little respect for her and the people she cares about. She used to be close to her friends and family until Spencer pushed them all away. She has no friends and if she doesn’t toughen up and put her family first, she will lose them as well. All she has is Spencer…what a horrible existence. She’s fucked things up royally for herself. Good luck to her, because she’s going to need it. I think they are right to marry each other, because nobody else would take them.
