HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Good news just in time for the holidays!

The first families have moved into the Lower 9th Ward neighborhood homes in New Orleans that Brad Pitt’s Make It Right foundation helped build.

Six homes have currently been built. Two more are underway, and construction on another 14 begins in early 2009.

Proving that it’s never too early to celebrate and be thankful, one home was already strewn with green garland, lights, wreaths and red bows.

Said Brad: “I’m really happy for the families that are going to be here, but I can’t help but think about the families that aren’t. It’s a push-pull for me. The excitement is that it’s being proven, that it’s working. The frustration is that we have a long way to go.”

So what…is this guy a saint now? No doubt that he is doing great things for the people of New Orleans but the press he gets is way too much!!

^^^ Oh I agree, one minute they’re everywhere doing interviews and being seen. The next they’re in hiding, seems a bit dodgy.
But I do praise what he does, I just don’t applaud the loonies going too far with the “saint, angel” comments ect. There are plenty of people who don’t have as much money as them and spend their whole lives dedicated to charities. Bash me all you want but it’s true, they just don’t get the publicity.

Those people must be so happy to go home for the Holidays. My home burnt down in the Witch Creek Fire last year & the rebuild is almost complete. My builder says I will be back home for Christmas. I am so thankful.

The homes are not free. The homeowners must have owned property in the area and be able to qualify and pay a down payment and take care of insurance and taxes. They are required to use insurance payouts and LA payments from the home program. The level of ignorance displayed by some here is monumental. The homes are elevated, with energy saving features like solar panels and tankless water heaters and insualtion that resists mold and all kinds of innovative energy saving features. The cost for each home is $150,000, which is not much at all where I live. The homes suffered no damage when Gustaf blew through the NOLA area this year. Brad’s Make It Right helps with any shortfall the owners might have after they use their resources and in some cases subsidizes a moderate amount. All the partners like architechs, etc. donated their time. Brad has done a great thing.

Why have you got to get your point across by swearing all the time. You sound like a fool, most of you’re post don’t make sense either. I suggest you actually re-read what you have written think about it. I’m sure you’re post count will be lowered.
Oh jealous of what exactly? Just because you’re so wrapped up in the media’s manipulation. I feel sorry for you, constantly praising these two statues. With their so called selfless projects, which ironically gets them more exposure. Especially when one of their movies is about to drop, interesting don’t you think?
