Us Weekly reports pop star Britney Spears is eyeing a new job — as a cocktail waitress!

Fresh from her recent stint in rehab, Brit was out drinking with pals at trendy hangout Les Deux last week when she approached the manager and said she wanted a job.

On July 6, as the 25-year-old singer was tossing back a Bacardi on ice at L.A. hot spot Les Deux, she asked an unusual question: Were they hiring? “Everyone thought she was joking, but she was dead serious!” says an eyewitness, adding that Spears asked to speak to the manager.

As the Les Deux boss fielded her inquiry, Spears diligently took notes. “She looked through her calendar and said that she couldn’t do it ‘this day, this day or that day’ because she has her kids,” says the insider.

“But she asked if she could begin the following Saturday.”

Spears did indeed arrive at the club on Saturday, July 14. Unfortunately, none of the higher-ups were there to follow up with her.

Britney is said to be working on her aptly titled comeback single, Get Back - which insiders describe as being a departure from her previous style.

One of her dancers has even revealed on her MySpace that they’re shooting Britney’s new video today in Los Angeles.

Let’s just hope her latest career endeavour doesn’t slow down the progress.
